Baltimore Orioles (16-11, T-1st, +2.0) vs. Oakland A's (13-16, 4th -4.0)

Streak / L10

BAL: +1, Lost 3 of 5 / L10: 5-5

OAK: -4, Lost 9 of 12 / L10: 3-7

Doubleheader Game 1 (1:05)

(QS=2)Mike Wright (1-2) 5.18 (1.27/.278), 18/6 (3HR)

vs.

(QS=4)Rich Hill (3-3) 2.53 (1.22/.224), 41/13 (2HR)

Mike Wright: Like Rich Hill, Wright has severe home/away splits so far with the better half being during home starts, but lefties have crushed Wright. He has never faced the A's and has thrown at least six innings in his last three starts with the two home starts being quality. All three of Wright's home runs have come from lefties and on the road.

Rich Hill: Rich Hill has pitched very well for the A's early on with three straight quality starts coming into this one. He still hasn't allowed more than three earned in a game, but the A's defense has allowed three of his runs so far. Hill has thrown over 100 pitched in four straight games now. What's interesting about Hill is the dramatic home/away splits. Hill has been dominating on the road and very bad at home, but Hill does have awful numbers at Camden Yards mostly from the time he spent with the Orioles many years ago. I wouldn't put much stock into those numbers as a result. This could be a tough one for the Orioles and Hill has slightly favored ground balls (33/27) as well. The one weakness for Hill has been walks and 11 of them have come over his last four starts with four coming in the last one.

Wow. Horrible crowd. I realize the weather is awful...but it looks like less than 10k there.

What must Angelos be thinking? All the money he spent this off-season, the team is in first place, but there are not too many butts filling seats. He sees the bad weather, but that weather (and much worse) doesn't keep football fans home.
