Baltimore Orioles (17-12, 1st, +0.5) vs. Oakland A's (14-17, T-3rd -4.0)

Streak / L10

BAL: +1, Won 3 of 5 / L10: 6-4

OAK: -1, Lost 6 of 7 / L10: 3-7

Game 3 (1:35)

(QS=3)Chris Tillman (3-1) 2.81 (1.13/.211), 33/12 (1HR)

vs.

(QS=2)Kendall Graveman (1-3) 4.40 (1.33/.263), 25/8 (5HR)

Chris Tillman: Tillman has looked very good over his last three starts with the only real concern being the walks four of which coming in his last start that was otherwise good, but with the five hits makes nine base runners. He has struck out nine batters in back to back games though and threw 110 pitches in his last start which was seven innings. The Orioles have won five of the six games he has started. He has been strong at home and against the A's in five starts.

Kendall Graveman: Graveman is another A's starter who has extreme home/away splits thus far with Graveman being worse on the road and his four innings at Camden Yards have been pretty bad. He has not done well against the Orioles in general and righties crush him. Graveman had two straight quality starts in mid-April, but has allowed 10 runs on 22 base runners in his last 11 innings of work spanning two starts. He allowed six runs on 10 hits and a walk in 4.2 innings on the road in Detroit and allowed four runs on 10 hits and a walk in 6.1 innings at home against Seattle in his last start.

The Orioles win the second half of the doubleheader behind a very strong performance from Jimenez; two runs on nine hits and only one walk in eight innings with six strikeouts. The Orioles got all their runs in the third and fourth inning consisting of RBI's from Kim, Jones and a two run blast by Davis. The other was a run that scored VIA a double play ball hit by Joseph, but no RBI credited on the play. It really all comes down to Ubaldo Jimenez, though. A well earned win for sure. Hahn really only had the one bad inning, but it was enough.

So, Tillman and Graveman. Graveman has bad home/away splits, but he's worse on the road and on top of that, he's been very bad against the Orioles in four appearances. Tillman on the other hand has been fantastic at home and has done well against the A's for his career. It's looking good on paper for an Orioles win in the finale before heading to Minnesota for three games.

The Orioles have a toe in first place over Boston again with Toronto 2.5 back and TB three back though their game against the Angels is in the third inning still. No one has yet to really take control of the division, but it's still early.

In that Tides game tonight, the Durham Bulls wore Han Solo themed uniforms. Truly strange. Last year, in one game, they wore C-3PO themed unis. Not sure which were sillier.
