I don't even like Rickard long term. AAAA fodder who had a hot streak.

Yeah, forget that he is a bad baseball player right now, even if he turns it around, what is his upside? I'm not scout, but he looks like a powerless, bad defensive corner outfielder that will have to have an abnormally high BABIP to have the kind of offense to justify a spot on a major league roster. Those guys have to grow on trees in the minors.

You totally stole my thunder with this thread.

It's time for Reimold and Rickard to switch roles. Yes, Reimold is injury-prone, and perhaps he's marginally worse with the glove, but for god's sakes his OPS last year in almost the same # of AB as Rickard has this year was 70 points higher. And his OPS this year in a small sample size is almost 200 points higher now.

Time for Joey Baseball to take a breather and ride some pine. Perhaps it will do him some good and help him make adjustments.

I still like Rickard. He sees a lot of pitches and has more power than you would think. With that said, I'm all for scaling back his starts a bit while he is struggling and playing Reimold/Kim a bit more.

Rickard is the best I have seen from our great Rule 5 endeavors yet people are unhappy? Just had a clutch double in a tie game.

We returned Logan Verrett and Jose Batista, funny.

I still like Joey. I am keeping the faith.

Flaherty is actually a better player than Rickard based on defense and positional value. Rickard reminds me of Jerry Hairston. If you watch him at the plate, he looks like a decent ballplayer and has good at-bats but the production just isn't there.

Seeing a lot of pitches isn't helpful to anyone. And he has exactly as much power as his .114 ISO suggests. He's just this years Parades.

Reimold should be playing vs RHP at this point.

Career OPS vs RHP - .767 (.944 this year which is likely not going to last but still)

Rickard on the other hand......is getting killed in this dept.

Rickard vs. RHP .622

Rickard vs. LHP .862

They both bat right-handed but it seems like Rickard is really having trouble against them......free Nolan!

I'm fine using Rickard against LHP awhile longer to see if the numbers will continue.

Good post.

A Reimold/Rickard platoon looks like a good idea.
