Collin McHugh: After struggling a lot in April, McHugh is doing a bit better in May with a 3.87 (1.33), but has allowed four home runs in four starts and Houston has lost back to back games he started. McHugh hasn't done well at home in five starts despite pitching well for his career at Beverage Maker Park, but not all that well against Baltimore in three starts.

Pedro Alvarez 1/1, 3-R HR

It took 13 innings, but the Astros outlast the Orioles and win 3-2 which is the second loss in a row for the Orioles as the offensive drought continues until the next blowout. I'm tired, but so are both bullpens. The rest of the series should be interesting.

Ok, so Tyler Wilson may be entering a window where he will need to adjust to the league (inevitable at some point) while McHugh's track record against the Orioles isn't good either nor are his early home numbers in five starts this season. Who knows?

Boston won today extending their streak to a +3 and the Yankees extend their streak to +6 as they have suddenly found some momentum and now find themselves in a much better situation than they were a couple weeks ago. In the Central, the White Sox continue to fall allowing the Indians to pull within 1.5 games and KC within two and both those teams have won seven of 10 while the Sox have lost seven of 10. Detroit has also climbed above .500 having won four in a row and eight of 10 to within three games of the lead. The Central is suddenly a very tight division with the Twins being the only weak team. In the West, the M's and A's are still early in their game and Texas won today six games up on the third place Angels whom they beat.

I like the shuffling of the lineup, particularly with the offense doing as badly as they have been lately.

Have Machado lead-off to give the opposing pitcher an immediate daunting challenge, and give Schoop a puncher's chance at a home run or a double in his 4 or 5 plate appearances immediately afterward.

ooo :Doooooo :Doooooo :D

    • I saw Johnson pitched 4 scoreless innings fur Bowie tonight.   4 hits, 2 walks,  3 strikeouts.   He has a 3.00 ERA on the season.
    • We’ll always have the no-hitter…
    • Do we know what his velocity was today? I know he doesn't light up the gun but was he at his normal?
    • Longterm he’s probably that missing RH SU/MR that we’ve been looking for since the Fuji trade.  It’s probably Suarez vs Ramírez vs Tate for 1-2 bullpen spots. Wells and one of Irvin/Means could be in the bullpen mix as well.  Depth is good to have. I wouldn’t sleep on Ramirez either. Elias has shown a knack from adding relievers through trade or waivers.
    • There's not a single high level prospect on the team he pitched against tonight and even the one out he got was crushed
    • Let’s tap the brakes on his move to the bullpen. His stuff plays and he can get outs. Best of all, he doesn’t walk anyone. He challenges hitters and gets weak contact. With our defense, I’d rather him give up the occasional double or flared hit to the outfield than to see walks. Keep him in the starting rotation until he proves he doesn’t belong. Wells and Irvin both have experience in the pen and frankly for Irvin, though I love him, has a real tough time throwing strikes at times.    anyway, let’s see what the old dog can do.
    • I could see Suarez sticking in a bullpen role long term with the movement on his fastball. Also he might be able to throw a 2 to 3 more MPH harder not having to worry about trying to pitch six innings. The Orioles have done a good job finding pitchers who weren't expected to do much in recent years and it would be cool if Suarez is another find.
