Tyler Wilson: Wilson has struggled lately and has lost three straight decisions with a pretty high ERA and WHIP. He allowed five home runs over his last four starts, but it could have been worse. In three appearances against the Yankees, his numbers are very good, but haven't been that great at Camden Yards this season.

Ivan Nova: Nova had a 3.52 ERA in six May appearances and five were as a starter. Nova has been OK, but nothing ground breaking. He has allowed one home run in each of his five starts, but allowed more than that one run in only two of them. Unfortunately for him, those two were his last two starts where he allowed four runs in six and 6.2 IP. He threw 100 pitches in both those starts after not doing it at all previously this season. He has also not been walking people with only five all month and allowing about a hit an inning. He has not been good on the road or against the Orioles, so this may turn out badly for him.

The orioles come away with a 6-5 win to open the series, but this is now the sixth time in seven games that Orioles pitching has allowed five runs or more and they allowed four in the other game. The streaky offense will be able to offset that during short stretches like this one, but the pitching has been consistently bad most of the season. Even Tillman and Gausman have cooled off now, but a third straight win is always good! This, however, is not a long term success strategy and it will not end well if we are going to have to beat both starting pitchers most nights out there.

Wilson is the best end of this matchup though he has been struggling a bit, but not terrible. Nova has been average, but has never had much success against the Orioles though he is 6-4. Just got to hope Wilson isn't about to get cold or we may see a lot of runs again.

In the division, Boston continues their dive as they have lost three in a row now as they lost to the sizzling Toronto Blue Jays who have won four in a row and eight of 10 now only 2.5 games off the lead. Looks like a third horse is about to join the fray in the east and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. In the Central, Cleveland has beaten KC twice in a row now, but the Royals are still hanging on to the division lead by a half game. Chicago lost today, so they gain no ground. In the West, Houston is stomping some A's in Oakland up 12-2 in the ninth and Texas beats Seattle to unlock the tie there and move into sole possession of first place yet again. Houston will pull to 6.5 back with the win and remain red hot. The Angels are also 6.5 back, but with Seattle and Texas currently going back and forth, it's hard to make up ground. They sure are trying, though.
