If he doesn't sign, he is headed to my alma mater. Callis seems pretty high on him.

Sounds like we have an overslot candidate. Good thing they have that extra pool money from the comp pick.

New Trier fireballer Ben Brecht, the Player of the Year in the Central Suburban League, was named to the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) 2016 Class 4A All-State Baseball Team.

He was the lone player from The North Shore Weekend/DailyNorthShore.com area to earn the honor.

The 6-foot-7 left-hander, who was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 36th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on June 11, finished the spring campaign with a 10-0 record in 12 starts. His earned run average was a sparkling 0.55. He finished with 97 strikeouts in 63 innings.

Brecht, ranked as the No. 1 senior pitcher in Illinois by the Prep Baseball Report (PBR), throw his fastball in the low 90s. He will play his college baseball at UC Santa Barbara.
