</b>

Gausman has been better in the last two starts, but still hasn't been able to get a win even when he is given a lead. He has allowed only three earned in the last two starts, though. His numbers against Boston and at Fenway are pretty solid, but Boston's top four in the order hit him really well.

Last 4 starts (28.1 IP): (4-0) 0.43 (1.24), 14BB, 0HR

Steven Wright is looking like he should be in early discussions about the AL Cy Young at this point. He has been fantastic and easily has the best knuckleball I've seen in a long time. He has 10 quality starts out of 12 and all 10 live up to my standards signifying an absolutely dominating pitcher. Wright's only weakness is walks, but even when he puts guys on base, rarely ever can anyone hit him to drive those runs in. Wright has thrown three complete games over the last month and one was against us where he allowed two runs on four hits and five walks. His ERA is microscopic over the last four starts all of which were winning decisions and he has allowed only three home runs in 82 innings this year.

Both starters pitched well, but Tillman and the Orioles come out on top and needed to count on Britton to get the last five outs after Givens put two on with one out in the eighth. With this win, the Orioles take a game lead in the division for now heading into game two tomorrow after a rare showing of good pitching and winning a low scoring game.

I really have trouble betting against Steven Wright at this point, but Gausman isn't a bad matchup for the Orioles at all. He should be able to keep us in the game, but we'll see.

Toronto blew out the Phils today to stay at three back of the lead and KC has now won four in a row with the last two being against Cleveland to move to within one game of sharing the division lead with them. The top four in the Central are separated by three games. In the West, Texas just keeps pulling away now ahead of Seattle by five games and is, IMO, the best team in the AL without question and are quite a ways better than Baltimore, Boston, Toronto and Cleveland who are all in the conversation for the top three in the AL.

    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
    • Well it certainly doesn't look like he'll be winning Rookie of Year award. And if we send him down for like the tiniest amount of time, we get him for another year, right? I think if this poor hitting continues it's financial mismanagement not to send him back down. Grayson got sent down and came back way better.
