Stretching Out Ryan Meisinger?

Not only are these some really impressive stats, but he's averaging 2.5 innings per appearance. Are they intentionally stretching him out?

Both are two pitch pitchers so I doubt they are doing anything other than giving them multiple innings in order to get them more experience.

I know a scout from another organization that like both a bit. Feels they are both major league relievers at some point. Both should receive promotions to Frederick soon. This is the time of year when the new draftees come in and guys start to either get promotions or their releases.

Is stretching them out the reason neither has been promoted to Frederick? They're both completely dominant and 22 years old. They appear to belong in Frederick.

Let's see what happens after the Sally and Carolina League all-star breaks, which are next week.

Yes, both are in the All-Star game. Expect them to see promotions after the game.

BTW, the Orioles are now employing a strategy of stretching out their "priority" relievers for pitch development purposes. They are not being groomed as starters.

It makes sense. They get to work more on their secondaries and aren't just one inning guys. We've all seen how valuable Brach is at the MLB level.

Thanks Tony. That's a great explanation.

Yup, and I think they've done the same with Keller and others over the last couple of years.

Quite a performance - and perhaps notable that he went 3 and a third. Maybe they should try and stretch him to see if he can get up to 5 innings this year. His career stats include 110 SO's vs 23 W's in 110 innings. I think the O's could have pushed him along quicker, but 22 isn't too old. He's a fascinating prospect, imo, with some real value.

Typo - that's 78 and a third innings - not 110.
