Even with the seven scoreless against KC, Wright's numbers are awful over his last four starts. He has also been terrible against Toronto and hasn't been great at home this season or in general. Most of Toronto's lineup sees and hits Wright well and their offense is hot, so once again, not looking good for Wright here.

Aaron Sanchez

(6-1)

3.38 (1.23/.235)

83K / 29BB, 8HR

QS: 9

Sanchez allowed six runs against us in his last start marking the third time this season he has done so and they account for the only times all season that he has allowed more than three earned. He has a 1.28 (1.14) in the very next start after such a game this season and won both games of seven innings each. Sanchez has been very consistent this season, but he allowed four home runs against us in his previous start which equals the tally he had allowed all season before that effectively doubling his season HR total to eight. Sanchez is a road pitcher and has been dominant on the road while struggling at home as it appears astroturf is his kryptonite, but apparently no one told him that Camden Yards has real grass because he has been awful there. Chris Davis absolutely owns Sanchez on top of that.

Though it wasn't pretty and had a great deal of luck at times, Wilson was outstanding tonight against Boston. He was giving up a lot of line drives and hard hit balls that the defense had to bail him out of, but he got the job done and the Orioles take the series as E-Rod still doesn't look to be in regular season form quite yet. We'll take it, of course! Now, it's back home to face Toronto. whose offense has been hot, but their pitching has allowed 17 home runs in the last week which is the worst over that time span.

Getting a good start from Mike Wright is something you wish on a star for especally against a team like Toronto that just saw him not too long ago and has hit pretty well over Wright's career, but Sanchez has never pitched well at Camden Yards or against the Orioles. He has yet to have back to back bad starts this season and has been at his best on the road this season by far, so that could go either way.

The Orioles return to sole possession of first place by a game over Boston and two over Toronto who we see next for three games. The Jays have won three straight and seven of 10. In the Central, Cleveland reclaims the lead on their off day as KC loses to Detroit. The Royals had a 4-3 lead at one time, but allowed seven unanswered runs and lost big. KC is a half game back, Detroit 1.5 and the White Sox 2.5 back. In the West, Texas just keeps on winning lengthening their lead to 6.5 over Seattle who really isn't a bad team, but they are not as good as Texas or even close really. If the M's or Astros are going to make the post season, it's going to be VIA wild card unless Texas collapses in the second half.

    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
    • Well it certainly doesn't look like he'll be winning Rookie of Year award. And if we send him down for like the tiniest amount of time, we get him for another year, right? I think if this poor hitting continues it's financial mismanagement not to send him back down. Grayson got sent down and came back way better.
