Well, we knew Gallardo has some serious shoulder issues when we signed him for a reduced contract after finding concerning things in there upon examination. Then, four starts into the season after allowing 14 runs and 30 base runners in 18 innings, Gallardo goes down with his first shoulder injury and DL stint of his career. I hope for the sake of our rotation that Gallardo can be productive and stay healthy, but the omens so far have not been good. The two good things to go on for this start is that Gallardo has dominated Toronto over three starts and he won't have to face Troy Tulowitzki who hits .407 and OPS 1.095 against him in 27 AB.

Since getting off to a rough start in April where he finished with a 6.75 ERA, he has gotten it together through May (3.20) and June (2.45) so far posting the numbers you see above combined since the start of May and has dropped his ERA from 5.73 to 4.16. Dickey allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in six innings against the Orioles in April though the Jays lost the game 4-3. He has been at his best against the Orioles when the game is at Camden Yards and has been at his best on the road this season.

Another egg laid by Mike Wright who was relieved by Jimenez and you've got a blow out loss on your hands at the hands of the red hot Blue Jays. Sanchez wasn't fantastic, but he got through six innings and allowed only two runs and the Toronto bullpen did the rest.

There's just no telling what we will get out of Gallardo. I doubt the fastball is going to be that much better than it was and he wasn't good before he went down with his injury, but he has pitched very well against Toronto in three starts. Dickey has pitched very well over the last six weeks after having a rough April and he too has good numbers against the Orioles when he pitches at Camden Yards. With Toronto playing the way they are right now, it's going to be hard to stop them.

Toronto is now tied with Boston for second place in the division and a win tomorrow puts the Jays into first place for the first time this season. They seem to be doing the same thing they did last season and may be the best team in the East now. They have won four straight and eight of 10. In the Central, Cleveland beat the White Sox who continue to fall now sitting in fourth place 3.5 games back and KC is up on Detroit in the seventh as they look to remain a half game behind Cleveland. In the West, Texas has run away 6.5 games ahead of Seattle who are 1.5 back of a wild card spot currently.
