I might be movin' to Montana soon

Gonna be a dental floss tycoon!

Just to raise me up a crop of

Dental Floss

Raisin' it up

Waxen it down

In a little white box

I can sell uptown

By myself I wouldn't

Have no boss,

But I'd be raisin' my lonely

Dental Floss

Yovani Gallardo

(2-1)

6.26 (1.70/.308)

14K / 11BB, 2HR

QS: 0

</b>

Gallardo was able to get through five innings allowing two runs against Toronto, but allowed nine baserunners as well which has been a problem with him all too often on top of bad pitch efficiency and not being able to get through six innings more times than not. He has also walked 11 batters in 23 innings this season, but at least he's not giving up many home runs. He has had success against the Rays in the past over three starts and has good home numbers this season helped along greatly by his April start against the Twins. Gallardo seems to be on the edge of imploding in almost every start he makes and manages to get out of it sometimes, but gives up four or more runs most times at least so far.

Moore had a really rough month of May putting up a 7.36 ERA, but had ERA under four in April (3.66) and June (3.96) helped along by his last two starts. Moore has averaged 6.2 innings per start over the last three and seems to have gotten himself together over the last two starts against the Astros and Giants and although Moore has legitimately struggled on the road this season as all five of his QS came at home, he has been pretty good pitching at Camden Yards for his career and has had success against the Orioles in general. In his last start of April just before he got out of whack, he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in seven innings against the Orioles with nine strikeouts. All three runs came from a Joey Rickard three run homer in the fifth inning. The Orioles didn't do squat against him otherwise.

While it's true that the Rays have lost seven in a row and were swept in two straight series, it should be noted that those teams (SF and CLE) have some of the best pitching staffs in baseball and I don't need to tell you that the Orioles, well, don't. The Rays don't have the best pitching, but their rotation is a hell of a lot better than ours ranking 12th in MLB in ERA while the Orioles rank 27th. I guess what I'm saying is it may not be a good idea to look past them or start tallying up the wins just yet. The Orioles did allow the Padres to put up 10 runs, after all. Then again, the Rays have been hit hard with injuries lately as well losing Pearce, Mahtook, Souza Jr, Guyer and of course Kiermaier over the last month. Even still, all losing streaks come to an end eventually. Hopefully, it won't be during this four game series.

It seems Moore has gotten himself together lately which could be bad for us and Gallardo is Gallardo and will probably pitch himself into jams all night, but will he be able to pitch himself out of them as well is the question.

Boston may have snapped out of their funk today beating the White Sox 8-7 in 10 innings on a game winning RBI single from Bogaerts. Boston scored all eight runs after the fourth inning and Chicago blew a lead twice in this game which moves the Red Sox to 1.5 back of the division lead. Toronto won as well sitting 2.5 back and the Yankees six back. Cleveland won their sixth straight and KC lost their second in a row sliding to three back while the Tigers have won four in a row and are four back. In the West, Texas now has a 10 game lead in the division though Houston has moved into second place now with five straight wins while Seattle has lost six in a row and eight of 10.
