Gausman pitched very well in his last start throwing 7.2 innings of four hit ball, but it was against the lowly Rays who were pathetically anemic with the bats in general which I'm sure helped his performance along substantially, but the question is how much? Gausman has really struggled overall for over a month now. Seattle shouldn't be so easy, so let's see if he can put up back to back good starts. He has done relatively well against the M's in two starts and both were at Insurance Company Field. The WHIP and BAA are a bit high, but solid ERA and no home runs allowed.

LeBlanc is remaining in the starting rotation after throwing six shutout innings of three hit ball against the Cardinals in his first start of the season. He is currently replacing Nate Karns in the Seattle rotation who has struggled as of late and is spending some time in the bullpen to try to sort himself out. LeBlanc has had a very underwhelming career thus far, but he did pitch very well against the Cardinals and though his career numbers at Insurance Company Field aren't good at all, he showed that he can pitch well there. In one start against the Orioles, he also pitched very well.

Tillman's struggles continue as he has now dropped an egg in five of the last seven starts as his ERA is quickly approaching four and the M's, who have been coming back to life lately, take game one of the series. It is amazing how different this team looks when they actually get pitched to as Taijuan Walker was superb and the bullpen held the O's down for the 5-3 win. Kim with another home run and for the love of God, the man should not be on the bench to make room for the likes of Rickard or Reimold. They aren't half the player he is. Kim needs to be in there every day against righties and lefties. It is absurd to me that he isn't because he's just too good for that. Let Rickard and Reimold share right field duties along with Trumbo.

Gausman is coming off a very good start, but it was against a last place team playing some of the worst baseball seen this season, so we will see how he does against a far superior M's offense. LeBlanc is nothing to fear either, really. He did pitch well against us in his only start, but he hasn't seen THIS lineup yet. Should be an interesting matchup.

So, Boston's offense seems to have gone cold for the time being, but I don't expect it to stay that way by any means. They will be facing the Angels while Toronto is being beaten by Cleveland who is certainly up there with Texas for the best team in the AL right now followed closely by the Astros who just keep on winning and are 8.5 behind Texas now and a half game out of the WC currently held by Boston and KC. Cleveland, of course, has won 13 in a row and unlike the Orioles, they can do it against teams in contention and not just bad teams well under .500 or teams playing their worst baseball of the season at the time of the meeting. The White Sox, Tigers and now the Blue Jays are falling victim to Francona's Indians. Seven of the 13 wins have come against teams not only above .500 and in the race, but six of them came against division rivals. This Indians team is for real and we know their manager is as well. KC and CWS have won two in a row and Detroit has now won three in a row. At this point, I could easily see three or four way ties for the WC spots this season in the AL. Don't give up on the Yankees just yet either as they took two from Texas and one was in dramatic come from behind fashion which allowed the red hot Astros to reel them in a bit.
