Have to take it to the losing clubs. A split would be disappointing.

Well, it is on the road. Yankees have a winning record at home, we have a sub-.500 record on the road.

I wouldn't be thrilled with 2-2 but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

</b>

Gausman has pitched to a game ERA north of four in six of the last nine starts and four of the last five. The one good one was during the four game sweep of the Rays and even with that start, his ERA is nearly six and his WHIP is just as bad. He has been awful on the road this season and has made two starts against the Yankees both at home. He allowed one run, 10 hits and two walks in 14 innings which are in line with his career numbers against the Yankees.

Nova had a 3.26 ERA in mid-May and kept it under four through the rest of May. Unfortunately for him and the Yankees, the wheels have come off since then and really, that process started in his last two May starts where he gave up four runs in back to back starts against Toronto. He allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings against the Orioles on June 4th and got the win and he would also go six innings in his next start against the Angels which was his fifth straight start of at least six innings, but he has not gone six innings since then. and has given up either four or five runs in five of his last seven starts and four of the last five with the one being against the Padres two starts ago. Nova had decent years in 2011 and 2013, but has been below average in all other years.

Bundy's first start wasn't good at all allowing four runs and couldn't even get through the fourth inning. I don't think he can be a starter without another pitch and some fastball movement, but what choice is there? It was good to see him start, but I think he needs his cutter back if he wants to be effective starting. Long relief is a good place for him right now IMO. The Orioles don't sweep the Rays this time and will go into New York for four against the Yankees.

Gausman has not been very good overall this season since his hot start as his ERA, WHIP and BAA continue to climb. Nova hasn't been much better, though. At least Gausman has very good opponent numbers against the Yankees which cannot be said for Nova and the Orioles.

Toronto won today and still has possession of the second WC spot by one game over Houston who also won today. The Central teams are all cooled off pretty much with the White Sox on a four game skid courtesy of the Angels. KC and Detroit have cooled off and the only team in the division with a winning record over the last 10 games is the Twins. Houston and LAA have both won seven of 10 in the West. The Central has cooled off quite a bit overall and the WC race isn't nearly as interesting as it was in June and early July. Really, only Houston, Detroit, KC and Seattle are within five games and Houston is just a game back and very much in the hunt. Also, the Yankees just beat Boston and so the lead remains at two games.
