Dylan Bundy

(2-2)

3.70 (1.60/.307)

36K / 15BB, 6HR

QS: 0

</b>

Well, Bundy looked pretty awful in his first major league start allowing four runs on five hits three of which were home runs and three walks in 3.1 IP. His .307 BAA is pretty ugly and it's distributed fairly evenly between lefties and righties. He has pitched better from the stretch by far and has done well at home. This Cleveland team is good and may expose Bundy's straight fastball more than the Rays did.

Trevor Bauer

(7-3)

3.36 (1.22/.232)

97K / 38BB, 8HR

QS: 7

Bauer has been very good for Cleveland especially in May (3.86 ERA) and June (2.01) with every June start ERA being under four. He struggled a bit in his last two starts, but does not give up many home runs and has seemingly found a sweet spot this season. He has been better on the road than at home, but does not have good numbers against the Orioles or at Camden Yards. However, Bauer is having the best year of his young career by far this season and may remove some weight from those numbers.

Tillman comes through for the Orioles as the stopper again to prevent being swept in four games by the Yankees, but the offense remains among the worst in baseball lately and we're heading back home to face Cleveland who has the best pitching staff in the AL especially the starting pitching and a top 5 offense that is currently red hot starting with Trevor Bauer. If we had trouble with the Yankees, it doesn't seem to bode well that we now face the best team in the AL who is heating up here at the start of the second half and about to face an inferior pitching staff.

Well, Bauer has been very good this season while Bundy has done well as a reliever, but not as a starter so far. Bauer certainly looks better in this one despite the awful numbers against the Orioles and Camden Yards. Bundy isn't even stretched out which will likely mean another long day for the Orioles bullpen. He got smacked around by the Rays and now, he will face a top 5 offense in Cleveland that is currently hot.

Boston's big win over the Twins keeps them in first place by a half game and the Jays fall to a game back being they had an off day today and will start a series with Seattle tomorrow. Cleveland is coming off their off day to play us tomorrow as well while the rest of the Central is fading away at least for now and every team in the West had an off day, so nothing going on there. Aside from the top three in the East, the Tigers (-4.5), Royals (-6.0), Astros (-2.5), Yankees (-5.5) and M's (-5.5) are all still within six with Chicago hanging around seven back of the WC. The Angels are hot themselves, but still sit 10.5 back and would need to continue this torrent through the rest of the season. Hey, Houston is doing it, so why not?
