Worley ended the month of May with a 2.03 ERA mostly in a relief role, but he finished June with a 4.66 ERA and has a 5.06 in July. In three starts this season, Worley's line is 5.40 (1.40/.250) with three home runs and 7BB allowed in 15 IP. Worley's relief appearance against Cleveland in late May was his last appearance before his downhill tumble began. Worley is not a very good starter or at least, he hasn't been this year. He will also be facing off against Kluber who is very, very good.

Corey Kluber

3.42 (1.02/.216)

130K / 30BB, 10HR

QS: 12 (3 CG, 2 CGSO)

The Indians starting pitching is simply phenominal and Kluber is no exception. He is working on his fourth good year in a row and three are ace worthy even if the wins weren't there last year. Kulber has 10 complete games all thrown over the last three years including this one and three of those were shutouts. After struggling a bit through April (4.24 ERA) and May (4.08), he has really picked it up in June (2.19) and July (2.95). Kluber has been good against the Orioles generally, but not so good at Camden Yards which is his only weakness that I can see in this matchup. Will it be enough to put him at a disadvantage? He is facing Vance Worley, so maybe not.

Tomlin met the same fate as Bauer did with the three run first inning, but Tomlin got it together and turned in a good performance considering. Really though, Gausman pitched one hell of a game tonight perhaps his best of the season allowing no runs in seven innings. I am a little surprised at how bad the Indians look in this series, but I guess it's just their time to get cold as the Orioles seem to be heating up a bit now and will go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon. Colorado is up next, so the Orioles have a chance to string together some more wins before heading back on the road for some tough games.

Kluber is obviously the (much) better pitcher here over Worley. It's not even close and there's nothing more to say. Kluber will need to pitch well for Cleveland to avoid being swept here.

Boston lost again to the Twins who are 11-7 this month and are playing some good baseball all of a sudden. Too bad they are too far out of it to attempt a comeback into the race, but they may be potent spoilers as the season enters the final stretch. Toronto got hammered by Seattle 14-5 to fall to three back of the Orioles, but remain at the top of the WC race in the second spot. Detroit won two in a row to close to 5.5 of Cleveland and 2.5 of Toronto for the WC while Houston pulls to a half game of Toronto and Seattle is hanging back at 3.5 games out. The Yankees are 4.5 back and KC is barely hanging on at five back. They are going to have to get going here soon if they want to be a factor in the race, but that seems less and less likely as they lost to the struggling Rangers today. Both Houston and Seattle have won three in a row.

We're headed over in a bit from our hotel. First time we've stayed this close to The Yard (Marriott) other than our honeymoon (Lord Baltimore opening week last year). For the hot wait in line due to the Palmer jersey, I dumped a few buckets of hotel ice into an O's shopping bag.

Standing in line, I happened to notice this reminder in my inbox. My secret shame. I have this on my calendar each year.

Unbelievably, there are three Yankee fans in their replica garb just ahead of me. We just shared a laugh over this.

Note: O's attendants are handing out cups of ice to those lined up.
