Gallardo has his first sub-4 game ERA start against the Rockies in his 12th start of the year and will now face the Jays who he has very good numbers against. His only start at Canadian Communications and Media Company Centre was nearly a complete game three hit shutout. In June, Gallardo allowed two runs in five innings and got the win, but again allowed nine base runners four of them being walks. He has walked four batters in three of the last four starts, but did well against the Rockies and will look to build on that against a team he pitches well against.

Happ has won his last seven decisions and is smoking hot in the middle of a very good season for the Blue Jays. He threw six innings of one hit ball against the M's in his last start, but walked four. He has very good numbers at Canadian Communications and Media Company Centre and has respectable numbers against the Orioles for his career. He allowed four runs in seven innings in his last start against the Orioles and got the win with three home runs allowed.

Gausman yet again proves that he has a lot of difficulty pitching with a lead. The Orioles get him two in the first and he responds by giving up three in the bottom of the inning on three blasts to left field. The Orioles then tie the game up and he responds by giving up three more runs in the bottom of the inning. Worley was outstanding in relief completely shutting down the Jays offense for four innings, but the Orioles offense couldn't make up the difference and lose by one game to extend their losing streak to four. Toronto is now a half game from taking the division lead. This is the second four game losing streak since the AS break and we haven't even gotten started yet down the stretch. The next series will be against the Rangers where the Orioles will face Darvish and Hamels in the first two games. Happ and Sanchez coming up won't be easy either.

Both Gallardo and Happ have good numbers against their opponents here. Happ has, by far, had the better and more consistent season and Gallardo just threw his first sub-4 ERA game of the season. It's hard to go against Happ here who is having a Tillman-like season, but Gallardo's numbers against the Jays do give pause. This could be a good one.

Boston is out west and have just begun their game against the Angels shortly after losing game one of that series last night. The spoiler Rays beat the Yankees, so they remain four back of the WC. Cleveland beat the A's and Detroit blew out the Astros 14-6 for their fourth win in a row and are suddenly right in the thick of the WC race at 1.5 back and Houston one back, but those numbers will change depending on what Boston does tonight. Seattle also was blown out by the Cubs 12-1. So, right now, it's Toronto and Boston holding the WC spots with Houston (-1.0), Detroit (-1.5), New York (-4.0) and Seattle (-4.5) in the WC race and the Orioles seem destined to join that race as well.
