</b>

Bundy has been impressive this far in three of the four starts he has made though it didn't turn out well against the Rockies. The White Sox bats are heating up after not being very good coming into this series which could present some issues for Bundy if that keeps up. He has not pitched well on the road this season which includes his one bad start against the Rays and has never pitched at Cell Phone Carrier Field before.

James Shields

(3-6)

4.92 (1.51/.279)

QS: 12

Shields has certainly had his rough stretches this season, but he is coming off a July with five sub-4/6+ starts for a 1.78 ERA despite his offense only getting him two wins. His first start of August wasn't good against the Tigers in the midst of their torrent winning streak. He allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings. It is also worth mentioning that his K/BB of 1.61 is by far the lowest of his career and he has allowed 20 home runs in 22 starts which is a throwback to 2015 (33) and 2010 (34) which were the two seasons he finished with an equal amount of appearances and home runs.

Shields will look to get back on track here against the Orioles who he has good numbers against in 26 career starts.

Both these games against the White Sox have had that hint of a playoff feel to them complete with close plays of all kinds, bad calls with and without the aid of replay and nail biting innings with the crowd adding that extra bit of tension. Unfortunately, the Orioles get the short end tonight with Tillman being good but not great and missed the sub 4/6+ due to an inherited runner scoring. Worley gave the Sox the extra run on his first pitch in relief to Eaton who deposited it in the right field seats. The Orioles will look to take the series tomorrow against Shields and hope Bundy's pixie dust magic isn't quite ready to give up the ghost just yet.

It's a toss up. Shields has been kind of feast-or-famine this season, but aside from his last start, he has pitched well over the last month as well as having good numbers against the Orioles and decent numbers at Cell Phone Carrier Field though the WHIP/BAA is on the high side. Bundy is still on his initial rookie hot streak and though all good things come to an end eventually, whether that time is now is yet to be seen. It is on the road where he has not done well and Chicago's bats seem to have found life in these two games, so we shall see.

Toronto loses their game to KC and of course, Boston was shut out by the Dodgers today who returned the favor after being shut out on a complete game by Wright last night. The Tigers are up on the Mets by one run in the eighth after allowing two unearned runs in the top of the seventh to make it a one run game and Texas beat Houston scoring a run in three straight innings after being shut out for the first five. The Indians beat the Yankees. The M's are down 3-1 to the Angels in the first inning of their game as well. So, the Orioles lose, but so does our direct competition. No harm, no foul, but the Orioles are sputtering a bit here in the second half so far.

Sorry to be an a-hole... starting a game thread before the actual DAY of the game is rive gauche.

bad form

All but one game thread on this page was started the day before the game and I understand that's how it was done before I was even a member here, so I'm not sure what your point is? Every thread on this page except

one was started the day before the day of the game. I would rather get these done and cycle my text files to be ready for the next two days and not stay up until 12-1am working on these things waiting for all the games

to be over and fighting fatigue. Anyway, I really don't get your point. Not like this is a new thing around here and it makes my job easier to do it this way.

Gamethread should be a lottery for anyone to start. Whoever has the hot hand. I don't start many because I have a TERRIBLE record. Labels Out!

Nothing that happens on this forum affects the outcome of games in any way, shape or form.

I love posters who know the difference. :)

Affect: To have an effect on, to make a difference to.

"Effect" is not a verb.

Edit: I am assuming your comment was sarcastic and not complimentary. ;) Those two words are easy to mess up if you're not careful.
