Tillman seems to be in a bit of a funk again though he's been worse, but he hasn't been as sharp over the last three starts. He did have that impressive stretch of four straight starts of seven innings and one run allowed, but going back to the beginning of June, he has made 13 starts. Six of them were sub-4/6+ and the other seven were not though he missed that mark by one out in the start against Toronto two starts ago. I don't think he should be tiring yet as he's no stranger to throwing 200 innings, but it is something to keep an eye on. He has good numbers across the board in this matchup, so the tables are set for a strong start here.

Andrew Triggs

(0-0)

QS: 0

Triggs has bounced around between the big league club and the minors due to injuries both to his teammates and himself as he was on the DL until August 2nd with a leg contusion. He was mostly being used in middle relief, but made one start in June which didn't go too well; five runs in four innings against the Astros. Two appearances before that, he allowed five runs in two innings against the M's in relief. Other than those two outings, Triggs hasn't been that bad. He has allowed three runs over his last 10 innings over eight appearances. He has pitched 4.1 innings since coming off the DL this month and has allowed one run on four hits and three walks. His last appearance on the seventh against the Cubs wasn't good as he allowed a hit, a run and a walk without recording an out. In his only appearance against the Orioles, a one inning relief appearance, he struck out all three batters he faced and has 34 strikeouts in 33.2 innings this season.

Gallardo was nearly perfect allowing only a single run in six innings good for his third sub-4/6+ outing in the last four. He has really turned it on lately, but unfortunately, Ross Detwiler tossed eight shutout innings and apparently did remember how he pitched in 2012 and brought it to the park in game three. I can't believe how good he pitched and I'd bet he can't either, but the Orioles get shut out 1-0 in game three as not even perfection could have gotten Gallardo a win. With this loss, the Orioles fall one game back of Toronto for the division lead. Fortunately for the Orioles, Boston looks like they might be in some trouble after the embarrassing loss tonight to the Yankees to go with both Betts and Ortiz leaving the game with injuries and Steven Wright having to miss his next start due to jamming his shoulder on Sunday pinch running for Ortiz. Is there a worse manager in baseball than John Farrell? That Boston team should be so much better than it is and how can you put your best pitcher in as a pinch runner? Boston really should consider firing Farrell right now if they want to pull this thing together and make the playoffs because it seems he has lost control of the clubhouse and the team is self destructing around him. Anyway, Oakland will go for the four game sweep tomorrow afternoon. The Orioles have lost three in a row and five of seven.

Even a struggling Tillman should be able to outpitch Andrew Triggs unless he really shows up in a way he hasn't showed up yet this season. He has struck out every Orioles batter he has ever faced in his career, but he won't be able to brag about that for much longer. Then again, maybe he'll throw a no hitter. Considering what we've seen out of this team so far in this series, nothing would surprise me.

Toronto wins big over the Rays led by another strong start by J.A. Happ and will have an off day before playing Houston in Toronto. Boston loses to NY in pretty sad fashion. The Red Sox were ahead 4-1 after six innings, then proceeded to give up eight unanswered runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Three off of Barnes, two off of Abad, two off of Tazawa and another off of Ross Jr. to seal the 9-4 loss to the Yankees. On top of that, Betts had to leave the game with a leg injury and Ortiz left the game after fouling a pitch off his leg and needed to be helped off the field and the injury to Ortiz seems serious. Wright also hurt himself pinch running for Ortiz on Sunday and will miss his next start and there's no news yet on Betts which probably means it's not serious, but it's not looking good for the Red Sox. Fernando Abad has not been good since being traded from Minnesota. The Nationals beat Cleveland and Texas beat Colorado with a two run eighth inning after Colorado got three in the top half of the inning to win 5-4. The MIN/HOU game was rained out and I have no clue why they even tried to get that game in, but the Twins were up 5-0 in the third inning when the game was postponed. It's a game that should have never even started considering the huge weather system that was headed their way. Meanwhile, it is an all out war between Seattle and Detroit as once again, the game comes down to the wire. The starters were King Felix and Verlander and it was a 1-1 game until Nelson Cruz hit a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth off of Justin Wilson and to center field at that. The M's tacked on another run and Vincent nailed down the save to seal Seattle's sixth win in a row and are now within 1.5 games of the WC. Detroit is one back, but have lost four in a row and it's not from playing badly. Houston is 3.5 back and they should count their blessings after having a rain out erase a 5-0 deficit.

On a side note, I feel badly for Prince Fielder whose neck injury has officially ended his career with exactly the same amount of home runs Cecil finished his career with. When looking up how bad Coco Crisp's neck injury is, I came across this article where he expresses sympathy for Fielder and talks about what he has to go through just to play baseball with his injury. He is one dedicated man, but risks his health by continuing to play.

How do you come up with your colors Sessh? They really are stunning! Very well done.

I look up the team color codes and plug them into a colored text fader. It fades through the two or three colors and then fades in reverse to the end.

I just can't believe that we've lost three straight to this team. That would seem almost miraculous.
Anybody catch the pre game show? The Demper is fired up.

One walk in 3 games is it? Got radio on at work hope they turn this around offensively as this is embarrassing.
