Jimenez did well against the Nationals where he has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball and against a struggling offensive club at that. He gave up the solo shot to Werth, but that was it. He didn't walk anyone and allowed only five hits and struck out five. He has made three starts against Toronto this season. Back in April, he allowed two runs on five hits and four walks in five innings when Toronto wasn't hitting squat. In the other two starts, both in June, he allowed a total of 10 runs on 10 hits, two walks and two home runs in only 3.1 IP. He was only able to record one out in the first start and could not get through the third inning in the other one. His numbers at home are also terrible.

Happ struggled to a 5.28 ERA in June, but followed that up with a 1.44 in July and a 3.33 in August which has gone up due to giving up four runs in each of his last two starts. Happ allowed four runs in five innings against the Angels in the last one, but all four were allowed in the sixth inning after throwing five scoreless. Still, Happ is having an outstanding year and the loss he took in his last start was his first loss since June 6th. Toronto had won every single game Happ started since then until his loss to the Angels. He has a 3.21 ERA in two starts against the Orioles this season. He allowed one run on three hits and three walks in seven innings last month with 11 strikeouts and he allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings back in June. Happ allowed four home runs total in those starts; three in June and one last month. Three of the four were solo home runs. He has good numbers against the Orioles, but struggles a bit at Camden Yards and Steve Pearce owns him.

Wade Miley pitched better than I thought he would and even turned in his ninth sub-4/6+ start of the season, but ultimately gave up the three runs in seven innings on two home runs. Estrada was shaky at times, but allowed only three hits and a run in seven innings as he really stepped up when the Jays needed him posting his best start in quite awhile. Tommy Hunter joins the ranks of the bullpen and gives up two runs to prove he belongs and once again, the only run the Orioles score is a solo home run. The Orioles are now four back of Toronto for the division.

Happ is leagues better than Jimenez, but has allowed four runs in back to back starts coming into this one. Even with Happ's recent struggles, he looks a lot better than Ubaldo coming into this one as he is having a career year with the Jays.

Practically everyone else in the race won today. Boston, Detroit, KC and Houston all won their games today. I'm beginning to think that maybe KC is the team to watch as they are playing really well. Cuthbert has filled in very nicely for Moustakas at third base essentially making him a non-loss and the pitching has picked it up. These are the defending champions after all. They sit two back along with Houston while Detroit pulls back to one of the Orioles for the wild card on a game winning two run homer from Salty in the eighth inning.
