Last 3 starts (14.1 IP): (1-2) 7.55 (1.96), 9BB, 4HR

</b>

Bundy has not looked good or pitched well over the last four starts really, but the results have been bad in two of the last three allowing five runs in each of those two starts. With an ERA in the mid 7's and a WHIP just a stone's throw from being a solid two in the last three starts, Bundy seems to have hit a wall. He gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks in four innings against the Yankees in his last start.

Chad Green

(2-3)

QS: 10

Green has a 3.54 ERA as a starter in August with his worst start coming against the Orioles in his last one. His command really wasn't very good and all you have to do during games is watch where the catcher puts the target and watch where the ball goes. Personally, I always look at the catcher's glove every at bat. Green allowed three home runs in that game and nine base runners total in 4.2 innings. Lefties are a problem for Green and so is pitching on the road mostly because he gives up more home runs on the road. He has never pitched at Camden Yards and all seven career innings against the Orioles were this year. He showed in July that when his command is on, he can be dominating as he shut the Orioles down for 2.1 innings allowing only two hits.

The Orioles drop the series to the Blue Jays and they are proving that even their success at home may at least partially be an illusion as they are 4-7 over the last 11 home games. It doesn't seem to matter where the Orioles play or who they play against and they only seem to have one gear lately. Toronto is the better team hands down at this point. Sanchez pitched extremely well for a guy who hadn't pitched in 13 days was it? Gallardo had a terrible first inning and though he did settle down, it cost the Orioles the game and they never had the lead. Both Givens and Brach give up a run as well as the bullpen continues to slip with another two runs allowed in three innings.

In this rematch of the first blowout in New York, both guys pitched poorly and we'll get to see if either one learned anything from the experience here. Bundy may just be at the end of his rope this season while Green has only thrown 44 innings this season and didn't have his command.

Also, I find it interesting that so often, pitch f/x shows pitches numerous times to be strikes (any part of the ball touching or even brushing against the side of the K Zone) while hitters complain about the call and managers think the call is "horse S". Even Palmer has said a few times during this series that a pitch was low or outside when pitch f/x showed it to be a strike. Players, managers and broadcasters will always complain about the strike zone even when it's "perfect." I think (some) fans can be added to that list as well.

This was a day for comeback wins. The Tigers pull out a late inning victory being down 2-1 in the eighth inning, but getting a second run off of Chris Sale in the eighth and then a game winning sac fly off of Robertson in the ninth to win the game. Boston beat the Rays exploding for seven runs after trailing going into the bottom of the fifth inning to win 8-6. Houston was also trailing 3-1 going into the eighth inning, but put up three runs to win 4-3. Predictably, Seattle was blown out by the Rangers and I think just puts the nail in that coffin. Last night's loss was a back breaker for this club after several late inning collapses prior to that game.

The KC/NY game went into extras for the second straight game. KC took a 4-0 lead in the first three innings, but NY tied it up with a three run sixth and another in the seventh. The story of this game was the bullpens. Cessa gave up four runs in six innings and Kennedy gave up four runs in 6.1 innings. After that, the Yankees bullpen did not allow a hit in seven relief innings with three walks. The KC bullpen had one weakness; Chris Young. Young allowed four hits, a walk and a run in the 13th inning. Prior to him, the KC bullpen threw 4.2 innings allowing only one hit and no walks. Betances records the save and the Yankees just won't go away. They pull back to 2.5 games of the wild card as they come into Baltimore to try to get even closer. Also, Hicks left this game with a hamstring injury. All contending teams have the day off today, so nothing will change.

Boston will head to Oakland, Toronto goes home to play the Rays, the Tigers head to KC which should be a good one and could end KC's hopes if Detroit can pull it off, the Rangers head to Houston and the Angels head to Seattle as things heat up on Friday night. The M's can still make a move here, but they have lost five in a row and I believe three of them were games that were blown in the late innings. The Angels have won five in a row.

Wild Card Standings

*Boston +2.0

*Baltimore --

*Detroit --

Houston -1.0

NY Yankees -2.5

KC Royals -3.0

Seattle -4.0
