Wade Miley

(8-11)

5.43 (1.41/.285)

110K / 42BB, 24HR

QS: 9

</b>

Miley has pitched better over the last two starts allowing five runs in 12 innings, but three home runs allowed. Still, it's his best two game stretch since coming here and will look to continue that against the Yankees who he has not done well against nor has he pitched well at Camden Yards.

(6-11)

5.12 (1.34/.270)

168K / 40BB, 22HR

QS: 10

Pineda has allowed five runs in each of the last two starts and continues to be erratic. He has allowed five runs in five of the last 10 starts and has allowed two or fewer in four of the last 10 starts with the other being a four run outing. He threw six scoreless in his last start against the Orioles allowing five hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Gausman continues his run against the Yankees and his scoreless innings streak not at 19, I believe. The Yankees really haven't looked good offensively in this series looking way too anxious to make something happen in crucial situations and coming up with nothing. Sabathia pitched well again, but remains winless at Camden Yards over the last three years.

Pineda has very good numbers against the Orioles, but not at Camden Yards which means both pitchers don't pitch well at this park. Pineda at least has good numbers against his opponent while Miley is winless in five starts. The Yankees have cooled down quite a bit and haven't looked very good in this series after winning a couple big games in KC.

Houston lost big to Texas and the spoiler Rays continue to spoil beating Toronto again though the Jays did came up with a four run ninth inning. Boston is up big on Oakland and the Angels are up big on Seattle both early on. KC just took a four run lead in the eighth over Detroit as well, so I'll assume all that stands and if not, I'll change it below. It would also move Boston into a tie for first place with Toronto in the division.

Wild Card Standings

*Boston +2.0

*Baltimore --

Detroit -1.0

Houston -3.0

KC Royals -4.0

NY Yankees -4.5

Seattle -5.0

Let's give credit to where it's due. The pitching. In the Nats series, you emphasized that their bats had gone cold as opposed to solid O's pitching. A pitcher makes a mistake and professional hitters take advantage. They didn't do that to the starters then or this series. And the bullpen has only given up 2 hits in the Yankees series thus far. No runs.

I'm mobile, so I'm not gonna quote the lengthy post, so here's a screen grab.
