They should give it to Rafael Palmeiro. He played only 28 less games at 1B in 2016 than he did in 1999, when he won the GG for 1B. :laughlol:

It's a shame Javy Baez didn't get the necessary innings at 2B, it would have been an absolute run away.

Looking at the advanced stats, I think Moreland and Beltre are likely to beat out Davis and Machado. I think either of our guys could win, but it certainly won't be a rip-off if they don't.

As to Manny, he's still great, but I think as he has grown into his body, he's lost a fraction of a second on his reaction time. There are balls he used to dive for and grab that elude him more often now. He's still above average in that regard, and has an unmatched arm, but not quite as magical as in 2012-13. Of course, he's also had the two knee surgeries.

With Manny it's going to come down to if the voters reward or penalize him for playing nearly 400 innings at SS this year. Therefore he wasn't able to compile the overall numbers defensively at 3rd. If that's a thing. Can they really not give it to him 2 years in a row? Beltre hasn't won a GG since 2012. Pre-Manny. My prediction is Manny wins it.

This is CD's year to win it. No Texiera to steal the GG at 1st anymore. Davis gets the nod over Moreland. More innings played at the position. Higher profile/salary. Better offensive season.

Manny won the GG last year. He didn't win in 2014, when he missed half the season.

Still Top 3, but doubtful he's winning another GG with Simmons in the AL.

That said, I'd take a repeat season from JJ next year, especially being healthy all year.

Despite the numbers, Hosmer seems likely to win based on "reputation."
