It's strange. Whenever I write a post that I feel is really good, it never gets rep. But I seem to get rep for every post I would never expect to get rep for.

A grey dot means no (or neutral) rep. If no one has given you rep as yet, you'd be grey. (Same goes with someone who "gives" you rep, but has no rep of their own to give. Their pip will show up in your User CP as grey.)

Light green "pips" are the first ones you get. Once you get past six (I think), the pips turn bright green.

The darker greens take 100 to get, the bright greens take 200 to get.

I don't even understand the point of having this system.I don't post much but it is silly to receive negative points because someone does'nt like your opinion!I am neg 4 and I don't know what was wrong with any of my 40+posts.It's just my opinion, I don't leave negative points because of others opinions thats what makes these boards fun to read!

Sometimes it's not your opinion, but how you express it.

Not saying this is the case, I honestly don't know how you've posted, but it can be.

Well, since you only have 45 posts and I was bored, I took a look at them.

It could be you got neg rep for this post where you refer to MacPhail as "McFail."

Or this one, where capitalization is lacking.

Or this one, where you refer to Terrell Suggs as T-FIZZLE.

Board rules can be found here, BTW. You might want to take a look at them, particularly the ones about name-calling and proper capitalization and punctuation.

And, if you want to know why you got neg rep -- look in your User CP. That's where your rep awards are listed. If you click on the link under the Thread title section in the Rep Received list, it will take you to the exact post for which you received rep. You can then look at that post to see if anything is "wrong." If it looks OK to you, I would advise notifying the mods via PM to look into this for you.

Yeah, like how I'm wondering what I was repped for by him in my response to him above yours. Though it could have been positive, since he's in the red it's a grayer.

    Exclamation New reputation system

I've modified the user reputation system to allow going past the old 'pip' limit. In a nutshell, here's how rep works:

    1 dark green pip - 0-100
    2 dark green pips - 101-200
    3 dark green pips - 201-300
    4 dark green pips - 301-400
    5 dark green pips - 401-500
    1 bright green pip - 501-650
    2 bright green pips - 651-800
    3 bright green pips - 801-950
    4 bright green pips - 951-1100
    5 bright green pips - 1101-1250
    6 bright green pips - 1251-1400
    1 orange pip - 1401-1600
    2 orange pips - 1601-1800
    3 orange pips - 1801-2000
    4 orange pips - 2001-2200
    5 orange pips - 2201-2400
    6 orange pips - 2401-2600

Once you've reached the end of the pip line, you will lap the system and get a big Super Pip (a star for now). You'll then start to collect pips again on the same scale. Super Pips are the ultimate status symbol in the rep system!

(I'll move this to the 'Help' section once everyone has had a chance to view it.)

EDIT: Apparently the Oriole Bird I picked for the Super Pip is not allowed. We'll default the star for now and solicit ideas for something better.

So, any ideas for the 'super pip'? Apparently it can't be an Orioles trademarked image - so birds, etc. are out. It just has to look good at about 25x25 pixels.

Oh sure, just when I hit that mythical 6 bright green pip status, whereupon, at least on the surface I have as much rep as icons such as Tony, John, RZNJ, BigBird, SG, Frobby, Drungo, TonySoprano and a host of others...and ya have to go and move the goal posts, pull the rug out from under me, yank the sweet moment of success from my very grasp!!!! Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Ok, so be it, now, my crusade just marches on as I will not rest until I get one of those "TBD" super-pips. No, no rest here, no letting off the gas, simply a crazed OH junkie who feeds on his rep points. I know there are others out there like me (ahem, Dipper for one).

Seriously, a neat new twist that gives credit where credit is due. I am not worthy at this point, no sir, the rep gods of OH have earned it, so nice to see the new system acknowledge their "status".

Uh, McLovin, one question for ya......how does it feel to have a set of the car keys, the keys to the kingdom, the combination to the vault, etc.? (Can't help but notice all of the rep you have amassed all of a sudden.

So that fancy cartoon bird I suggested is out of the question? That's too bad, I think it looks pretty slick!
