Next up I think we should work on those level descriptions...

I was worried that when you lapped the system, your one pip description would revert to the rookie text - but looks like the software is smarter than I thought...

I noticed in the Minors section that Doc Shorebird is still laboring with only three pips. Is he staff? If no, everyone head to the minors board and give the man some rep! He earns it.

I need 1000+ rep points before I get one of those neat lookin' birds.

Whoa. That's a LOT of rep still.
Lots of rep to go before I sleep.

    Great work McLovin! Great board.

    Just a random little question...

Since the new rep system came online, it seems like you can't roll over the person's pip and see what it says about them after you have given them rep. I tend to go out of the way to give positive rep to newbies or posters without a lot of pips when they say something I approve of, and I know it's lame but I like looking afterward to see if I changed their status from "rookie out of training camp" to "heading in the right direction" or "heading in the right direction" to whatever comes next and now I can't.

Also, I haven't paid too much attention but I really think there are some people who didn't have the full compliment of pips under the old system that now have more red-orange ones than I do. Maybe a bunch of people just got a lot of positive rep right when the system changed over.

Because of the way the new javascript rep thing works, you'll need to refresh the page to get this information. Remember, you used to have to go to a whole separate page to add rep.

No, that's not the case. If there is someone you think shouldn't have more than you, PM me and I can detail why they do.

How do you tell who has repped you? I clicked on the rep but it only showed the comment that people repped you on.

    Smile

As I picked up my 4th orange pip yesterday (the crusade marches on), I stopped for a moment to take in the rep system. I have this theory that I apply when it comes to rep. To wit:

Some time back, while attending a leadership seminar for corporate security execs at the Kellogg School of Business in Chicago (name dropping ), the class was put through an interesting, though simple exercise/game. We paired off and were instructed to have have arm wrestling matches - the goal being to see how many times each person "wins". (If you've done this exercise before, you know how it should end). The guy I am paired off with, well, we muscled up and immediately got into a stalemate, until I let up and he pins me and wins. Eureka. He then lets me win. I let him win. We simply went back and forth; I pinned him, he pins me, I pinned him, he pins me. We each won several times. There was never any mention of losing! Others in the class did not come upon this "lesson". Some were locked in endless struggles, grunting to get that first pin of their opponent; actually was funny to see some of the others really going at it.

Now then, back to our rep system. I want to see as many people as possible win with rep, i.e., help them build up their pips. In the end, its a neat little 'game'. Mind you, I do my best not to dole it out frivolously, but I do pass it out! After all, every one should win as much as possible. Pay it forward.

roughly 600 more rep points to go for my first bird...wow, that seems daunting still

Neat story Moscow! I agree with you on the pip giving. However, as slow as I am in the brain, my dumb ass would probably still be struggling in the arm wrestling match!
