From what I've witnessed, I'm not sure this reputation system is very credible. Personally I give a positive rep whenever I see a good and/or humorous post. It's gotten to the point where I don't give out any negative rep at all because it just gets ugly. Some people fell they must give you negative rep simply because you gave them one. This did happen to me IMO. I also think that many on here are afraid/reluctant to challenge some of the posters because they know they will get a heavy dose of negative rep. Again, I'm merely stating my opinion. I'm trying not to worry about the whole rep thing even though I admit I occasionally look at my numbers.

I know. By no means am I trying to say everyone or even a majority of the posters abuse the rep system. However, I guess enough do to question the credibility of the system.

Well, that's not why you give out a bad rep. You do it if the person is being abusive, or acting outside the established board rules, etc. And for the record, you do it by clicking the little scales icon at the top right of a post.

I find it to be abused as in by people who simply don't like you or your posting style. I say this because I have the same handful of people who cannot seem to wait to drop a red on me for virtually anything. Yet, when I get green it usually never comes from the same person twice and a larger sample of people. If not for about three or four people here who revell in giving me almost constant red, I doubt I would get any at all. For that reason alone, I espouse the system is subject to abuse.

I don't think I've ever given you a red pip. I think - generally - that you do little to deserve them. In your most egregious moments, however, there is little doubt that your attempts to whip the crowd into a lather crosses the line.

That said, you seem somewhat better behaved these days.

Still, there's no doubt the system can be abused. And, I'm sure, often is. I think when I started on here I abused it by giving Sapper red pips when he was being annoying (but within the rules). I wish I could take that back now.
