I didn't really see the grammar similarities between Sun and Hardballs. Not enough "Fatson" references...
Oh well. I'm suprised whoever the guy is just can't let it go. Is the hangout really that addictive?...Oh wait...

07-15-2005 05:25 PM #94He's full of it. Hardballs was on the site for years and although he wrote like a 10 yr old, I find it hard to believe any 10 yr old kid would get that worked up about baseball, curse like he did, and many other things. The only way that ISP thing is true is if he lives in dorms or an apt complex. Bottom line is he is crossed the line hacking into cindy's account and he should apologize to everyone involved instead of coming up with false/lame excuses.

Not to mention that isn't the screenname he gave me when he was making those backgrounds.

He just IMed me again. Here is part of what he said...and I want everyone to keep an open mind about this, because he says he's only 14 and is really scared.
MacGenius10: Could you say one more thing to everyone on the hangout? I am sorry to cindy and everyone and would like to move on in peace, I am sorry for the trouble I caused, and I would just like to move on. I am truly sorry. And Thank you.
ledzepp244: tell me the truth though?
MacGenius10: Ok man, I am telling you the truth, I just want to move on. I was utterly and terribly wrong by crossing the line and going into cindys account. Please tell them I am sorry, and I want to move on in peace. Tell tony I'm sorry too.
ledzepp244: but how old are you for real?
MacGenius10: I will not ever make another name on the hangout again
MacGenius10: dude 14
MacGenius10: im sorry
MacGenius10: for saying iwas older
and he goes on to say...
MacGenius10: i wanted reps i thought the pips were cool, and now i realize it wasnt worth it, it was one of the stupidiest things ive done in my life, and btw i just guessed her pass, im not computer magician
He says that he was NYOriolesfan, Sun and a couple of others(not Hardballs), but not as many as Tony said. He says that he's really sorry, and that he is just really worried about what might happen to him. He said he's literally worried sick and that he promises to never make another name on here again. He says he just felt weird telling people his real age for some reason(I guess cause he was the youngest person on here)...but take this however you want...cause I still don't know what to believe. He just really wanted me to tell everyone how sorry he is/was. So that's what I'm doing.

And by the way Cindy, I'm not trying to be mean. But passwords are supposed to be something that only you would know. I won't say what it was(although I'm sure everyone could guess)but I did guess and was told I was right. Rest assured I would never hack into your account, but generally you don't want your password to be something that's easily identifiable with you or a WORD IN YOUR SCREENNAME.
Just for future reference be more careful, where privacy is a concern.

I imagine he is worried, considering the fact that what he did is extremely actionable. The FBI in particular takes a very dim view of hacking.

07-15-2005 06:47 PM #99For future reference, your children's/spouse's names are also a pretty bad idea; especially if you have mentioned them online.

If he is a kid who was just messing around, then he needs to know just how serious the repercussions of his actions are so he won't do it again. Not everyone is as nice as Tony and John, and there are mb's out there that won't hesitate to take it to the next level.

Man, Tony why didn't you give me a call? I missed all the fun. Now I'm gonna have to do some work to find out who this really is....

well, he is a mindspring customer in the DC/Baltimore area, but his connection is through Time Warner. That leads me to believe he lives in a suburb that is covered by Time Warner and not a Comcast area. Anyone know of any TimeWarner cable systems around the area? I will look up what cirties are Time Warner on Monday at the office.
69.86.113.177 is the IP he had at his last post so I can find the router that has that range assigned to it and probably from there can get the neighborhood he is in. At that point with some help fromt the TimeWarner Engineers I can get the logfiles and see what Cable Modem MAC address had that IP at that time and we can match it to their customer database.
CSI...what a bunch of wankers!
I love his AIM handle, macgenius, an oxymoron!

He called me on Yahoo! IM. Said he was from upstate NY and he was 15. Hasn't called in about a week. He did casually mention rep points once.
ddwe2342000 (11:17:35 PM): I was like a rep or two away from 100 reps and two small bars and tony negative reped me
scott62562 (11:17:54 PM): what for?
ddwe2342000 (11:18:26 PM): remember that background thing I was doing for people?
scott62562 (11:19:11 PM): the
scott62562 (11:19:12 PM): yeah
ddwe2342000 (11:19:21 PM): I was pretty mad
ddwe2342000 (11:19:30 PM): I always longed for the two bars .. lol

Tony/Matt -- seriously unless it's way too much trouble on your part to do this, take away whatever points I got from this kid. I SOOOOOOO don't want them -- especially now that I'm reading all this about he hacked into Cindy's account. In fact, for all the heartache she went through, give Cindy the bogus points that Sun gave me. From what I can tell, I didn't get any bogus points from Cindy's hacked account, but I know I got 2-3 from Sun in the past week or so.
Some were from the "Your User Name Band!!" thread (comment was: "Huey Lewis and the News, as you posted, was the greatest band ever")
and the "Contest: Name the Orioles Hangout Band" thread (comment was : "ok"). I don't know if that helps in finding/removing the points from the DB or what. Seriously -- now that I know what went down, I don't want these points from this joker. Although I'm on the brink of 200 rep points, I want those bogus points gone from my account. I feel dirty.
Witchy
