07-16-2005 07:02 PM #121That's nice of you Tony. I think everyone deserves a second chance. And when your 14, you just sometimes do some really stupid things. And he should be very grateful, cause you could have really come down on him about this. But instead you're giving him a chance to be able and come back and start over after a year. And those ESPN Board nuts call you some kind of nazi. You've got a heart of gold.

I've seriously downgraded people's power now after realizing they got a little too high. I'm trying to cap it at 5 points.

Oh well, the one thing I've learned over the years is to have thick skin and to know that not everyone is going to like you no matter how good your intentions are. Besides, being the main enforcer around here (although Paul,SB and John-OH also do a great job of taking care of things before they get out of hand) doesn't always make you popular amongst the troublemakers. Then again, the troublemakers are the ones we're toughest against so I guess it all works out in the end for the many Hangouters who call this there internet home.

At least when you Google yourself, you get webpages about YOU. I Google my name, and I get stuff about an English countertenor.

Has the scale of rep points been changed? What I mean by that is do posters with a lot of posts/rep no longer have more repping power now? I ask because I got both positive and negative rep from people lately that should be worth 6-8 points or so, but they've only been counted as 2 points. So just wondering what's up with that.

I believe Tony also cut down on the number of reps we can give out per day, which I honestly don't like.

Tony cut waaaaaaaay back on how much you can give out.

Yeah, I know that, it seems like you can give 2 per 24 hours or something like that. But I was wondering about the amount of points you give or take away when you give rep. Unless it's a glitch, it's much less than before.

I'm pretty sure that was changed as well because people werent using them correctly. Specifically Sun was messing everything up by hacking accounts but others were giving free reps just for winning games.

Yeah I've noticed that too. I've been trying to be more judicious with dishing out the rep since it seems we can only dish out 2 in a 24-hour period. Why waste one (or both) of my rep-gives to give neg rep to some nonsensical, name-calling post when I can use it in a positive manner (for a well thought out post).
I understand the logic behind limiting the number of rep-gives. I do, think, this somewhat defeats the purpose though. If I'm "saving" my rep-gives for "good" posts and not dishing out neg rep, does that mean people are getting away with the nonsensical name-calling posts?? Or should we be reporting those as bad posts?

There should be a committee. Maybe hold some hearings.
