I really appreciated this thread. I've been curious about this for a while. Think I've only given out two or three since I've been on here, as I didn't know you could do up to five a day. Just figured it must be something to be given out only very infrequently, although there have been many threads I would have give out for if I had understood better. Now going to search and see if there is a thread to explain plus membership in detail. Sorry if I sound so dumb, but just that I live on the orioles thread and don't search around much as so much is usually happening that I'm trying to follow over there with my time.

Rep really does come in cycles...

It took me 900 posts to get my second blip. A hundred posts later, I was at 184... and after another hundred posts, I'm still stuck there. Blah.

Yes!! Finally, my third blip... 900 for the first one, 200 for the second one... at this rate of improvement(exponentially), I'll have my fourth in 45 posts, fifth in 55 posts, sixth in 57 posts, and the next post will be so good that people will literally never stop repping me. Ever. This is gonna be an exciting 58 posts.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to give rep points (positive or negative) unless they've reached a certain level of seniority. That would keep people with 3 posts from giving negatives.

I also think that the number of points you receive should be based on some combination of the person's seniority and the person's own reputation.

For example, if SG gives me positive rep points, it should count for more than if someone with 100 posts gives me points. And if someone has collected 100 rep points already, that person's opinion should count for more than someone who is a little shady.

All I know is that I'm doing what I can to become the second person (after Tony) to get his second green dot. I don't know how many points it takes, but I've gotta be getting close!!!

I 100% agree, I only have 250 or so, and am not on here as much as some, so what gives me the right to 'rate' someone on their opinion. I mean obviously in cases where it is warrented, but there is too much of a grey area.

I don't post as much as Frobby, but I haven't rec'd a rating since November. I think we should have a rating "push" before the season starts for when we get a flood of new members. Just a thought...

I believe, at this point, you get the "bright green" pips. You have 6 pips total, but your right-most one is (now?) bright green.

EDIT: Ooooorrrrr, maybe not. I see that I have eight pips total, with the three right-most pips bright green. So, who knows?
