I love this sort of topic. Currently in my car are the following:
Burden Brothers - "Buried in your Black Heart"
Danger Mouse - 'The Grey Album"
A.C. Newman (New Pornographers) solo - "The Slow Wonder"
Arcade Fire - "Funeral"
Kings of Leon - "Youth and Young Manhood"
But what I've been playing for days is a mix CD I did last year, with:
Southside Johnny - "I've Been Working Too Hard"
Scott Miller & the Commonwealth - "I Won't Go With Her"
Greg Garing - "How the Road Unwinds"
Cracker (Live) - "The Golden Age"
Counting Crows - "Miami"
Phish - "Back on the Train"
Widespread Panic - "Blue Indian"
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) - "Red Eyes and Tears"
George Harrison (from Jools Holland Big Band CD) - "Horse to Water"
Buddy Miller - "100 Million Little Bombs"
Bones, Thug & Harmony (et al) - "War"
The Morrells - "Don't Let Your Baby Buy a Car"
BRMC - "Whatever Happened to my Rock and Roll"
Cracker (Live) - "Sunday Train"
Old '97s - "The Other Shoe"
(Maryland's) 5 Chinese Brothers - "She's a Waitress"
I'm an ex-DJ who's listened to a lot of music. I like to talk with people about CDs I think are criminally underappreciated. From the first song until the last, I consider the Counting Crow's "Hard Candy" to be one of the finest CDs I've heard in recent years. The musical style is all over the map, yet consistently good. They sound like a different band on almost every song. If you ever see it in a used CD bin, pick it up. It's a wonderful CD.

Parasite
Lifting the mask from from a local clown
Feeling down like him
Seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
Sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trials of the people there
Who's to care if they lose.
And take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town.
Dancing a jig in a church with chimes
A sign of the times today
And hearing no bell from a steeple tall
People all in dismay
Falling so far on a silver spoon
Making the moon for fun
And changing a rope for a size too small
People all get hung.
Take a look you may see me coming through
For I am the parasite who travels two by two.
When lifting the mask from a local clown
And feeling down like him
I'm seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
I'm sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trials of the people there
Who's to care if they lose.
And take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town.
And take a look you may see me in the dirt
For i am the parasite who hangs from your skirt.

I have Fall Out Boy on right now.
If you don't know Fall Out Boy, run out and get you one of their CDs. Under the Cork Tree is one of those rare albums that you can listen to front-to-back, over and over again. Great writing, funny hooks, above average guitars... one of the best out there.
"I'm sleeping my way out of this one with anyone who'll lay down."
Great stuff.
Been listening to Motion City Soundtrack, Rise Against, Mars Volta, At the Drive-In, and Thrice lately. Waiting on Thrice and Our Lady Peace's new albums coming out pretty soon.Last edited by J.D.; 08-10-2005 at 08:57 AM.

08-11-2005 03:03 PM #26Thanks for the kudos. I've got all three of the V-Roys CDs (The third one is kinda rare. It's live). I saw them live once here in Gainesville. Those of you who catch "Blue Collar Comedy" on TV get to hear Scott Miller. He's the center piece of the house band on the program.
