If I Needed Someone - The Beatles

I've been on a Beatles binge lately. Everything from Please Please Me to Let It Be. But Rubber Soul and The White Album have been on 'repeat' the most.

I'm listening to "Safety in Speed (Heavy Metal)" by P.O.S. off his album Audition, featuring Craig Finn (current frontman of The Hold Steady and formerly of Lifter Puller).

I've only walked out on one single movie
    It was an action adventure
    It was a blood-sucking summer.
And the posters in the lobby of the theater called it "Predator."
I called it weak and unwatchable
Carl Weathers and two future governers
    You know, that's really unacceptable.
We gotta stop falling for these double speakers from the double features
We gotta keep `em in the theaters.
For the indie hip-hop heads out there, P.O.S. is signed to Rhymesayers.

Picked up 3 pretty excellent discs today....

    Curtis Mayfield 2 disc comp
    Jackie Wilson 2 disc comp
    and Donovan's Sunshine Superman album.

Other than that, I've been on a huge Ted Leo kick as of late. That guy is awesome.

Well, I saw Vanilla Sky for the first time about 6 months ago. I loved Everything In It's Right Place. I looked for the soundtrack and was kinda... meh. I found Kid A, but put it off. I finally ordered it. In the meantime I discovered YouTube. Searched on Radiohead (among a HUNDRED other things...) and was BLOWN AWAY. I really haven't been this obssessed over an artist since I first heard SRV's Voodoo Chile.

You are in for a treat, my friend! It isn't always happy music, but it is almost always excellent, and often extraordinary. IMHO

Lucky you! Radiohead's been my favorite band since The Bends came out. For my money there isn't a better album in the history of rock than OK Computer. (That's not to say that there aren't other albums I'd put on the same level.) The Bends is wonderful and Kid A just keeps getting better on every listen. I highly recommend the Airbag EP as well-- "Polyethylene" has to be one of my all time favorite songs.

I remember seeing Radiohead in person back in 1996 when they were opening for Alanis Morissette. What a weird combination that was. That's back when "Paranoid Android" was an extended 30-minute jam. The teenyboppers who were there for Alanis were none too impressed. I just stood there blown away.

As far as what I've been listening to, the Thom Yorke solo album, Slowdive's Pygmalion, and Cursive's The Ugly Organ have been getting regular play of late.
