"This is why, this is why, this is why you suck..." That'll be in my head all day and I'll love every minute of it. How priceless is that still frame of the MD/Duke ACC final where the kid is crying in his dad's arms?

Gentlemen, thank you for your support in this difficult time. I'm not sure how diehard this girl is, so until then I'll reserve judgement. She did say this, "Every time I go to an O's game against the Yankees, over half the fans are cheering for the Yanks. But if it makes you feel any better, I've been to four O's games against the Yankees and the O's have won all four." That, my friends, is what we call karma.

I saw a little comedy routine on Comedy Central several weeks ago. The dude is on there often I think (I've only seen him once). He had an easel with a huge notepad on it. Each page had a different picture, words, or chart. The one chart graphed an increasing function that suddenly turned straight down on the far right side. He said "this is a graph of hotness vs. how much you tolerate a girl talking about her cat. (We can substitue Yankee fandom for the cat.) You'll notice that as the chick gets hotter you can tolerate more and more cat talk. However, at some point it just doesn't matter how hot the chick is, you just don't want to hear about her f***ing cat anymore!" Amen.

And the danger is, as the season progresses and the Yanks are leading the division.... her hotness will proportionately offset by the fact she owns a Yankees hat.

I'm honestly not sure if I could handle her wearing a Yankees hat. I might be able to tolerate a Red Sox cap, I'd be ok with TB or Toronto, an NL team would be fine, but I'd really get upset if I saw that damned NY. I'd like to think I could just get drunk and forget about it, but that might just fire me up more.

I need to stop thinking about this because I'm getting myself all wound up.

This is why Hartford sucks. I'm here with the women's basketball team in the NCAA Tournament, and everything closes so early. By "everything," I mean the restaurant in our hotel, because there really isn't anything else even remotely close to us.

But as for my girl situation, everything is going well right now. It's this girl I work with, and this really came right out of the blue. I should say that we know each other through work, but it's not like we do much together at work or are even in there at the same times very often, so I don't feel like that's a big issue.

Anyway, I knew who she was and thought she was pretty, but that was the extent of it. Then last week, she saw me out in College Park and called me over...she wanted to do shots, and what am I going to say to that? I was about to leave, so I offered to pay for mine and she said no, that she had it. So I asked if she'd be back the next night, and promised I'd get her one then.

The next night, I saw her again and paid her back, and we just really hit it off. I thought to myself that maybe this was just the alcohol working, so a few days later I asked her out for lunch and it was the same thing. It was just great, really. She's so easy to talk to and she's a lot of fun to be around...oh, and she is an Orioles fan, and we already have plans to go to plenty of tshirt Tuesdays. So for now, I'm very happy.

So now she's back at home and I'm in Hartford, looking out my window at a snow-covered field with a ramshackled red barn out in the middle of it, and it's a little depressing that I couldn't even get a drink at the hotel bar with some people from work when I got back from working at the arena around 11. Thank God I have Dayton to look forward to next weekend if we win on Tuesday........

Good luck, my man! We want pictures!

No, seriously, I want pictures of you with this workplace temptress.

And man...gotta say...tough break with the sites for the women's tourney! Hartford, Dayton, then Cleveland? At least they have the RnRHOF and...LeBron, and...lots of old factories, I'm sure.

But good luck to the Lady Terps. Is Shay Doron as hot as she seems?

Gear up, brotha. If this girl sticks around long enough, you KNOW it'll happen. She had a picture on her myspace page of her in a Yankees hat that said, "Yanks........ what".

Pardon me while I vomit in horror reflecting back to that.

What needs to be fixed is my lack of drinking lately. I'll try to tie one on tomorrow night and post something ridiculous.

Eight straight days at the bar for me...tonight was a light night, but I didn't have any dinner so I'm definitely feeling it a little even after just 6 rails. Anyway, I'm going for a Mike Grinnon-esque ending to my senior year at College Park.

Grinnon worked in our office in athletics after his season ended in the NIT semifinals his senior year. It soon became apparent that he wasn't going to come in sober anytime soon. We'd see him out on campus and he would come up and give us drunken high fives and hugs (in the middle of the day). Apparently, it was his goal to get at least tipsy every day from the day the team lost to the day he graduated. I didn't see him for the last couple of weeks of his senior year, but as far as I know, he succeeded.

I'm not usre if I'll make it that long, but this is a personal best streak...my Cal Ripken moment, I suppose, and I'm going to make it last as long as I can.

I think my personal record is eight straight, although a few of those days were questionable.

I had high hopes for tonight. I was meeting up with a girl I met on myspace. We have a lot of common friends and we seemed to hit it off. We've been sending emails all day long for over a week and even had a great phone convo. We had a few drinks at the local watering hole and then a bunch of us decided to go to see Greengenes at the Recher. Things started to pick up with this girl and we were dancing more and more. Then GG takes a break between sets, she runs into some other guy she met on myspace, and starts hanging out with him. I wasn't too bothered at first, but after an hour it was just ridiculous. The sad thing is that she helped me get my Opening Day tickets. That's much better than the Yankees fan I was hanging out with a few weeks ago.

I don't know this girl that well and I'm not attached or anything, but I am disappointed. She's very good looking, fit, fun, and we seem to get along well. The question is, what the hell did I do to deserve this crap? I have to admit I'm more than a little disappointed in the female gender at the moment. Fortunately I have some great friends and they cheered me up.

That's my rant for the night. I was hoping to get drunk, have a great time, and make an incredible drunk post. Instead I'm left with this. Sorry, but thanks for listening. Good night fellow O's fans!

Addendum to my story from last night:

I wake up this morning and I have an email on myspace from this girl. Basically it says, "It was nice to finally meet you in person last night. I have to admit I was a little weirded out last night when I found out you were the big V. It's cool that you are, but I'm definitely not and I didn't know how to handle it.....sorry." Um, yeah, so my friends were joking around with her at the bar and told her I was a virgin. They do this a lot. Usually the reaction isn't quite this extreme. I wrote back and explained the situation and I'll see if she's replied when I get home. Unbelievable!!!

The big V what is this elementary school. If she gets that bummed because you are still a "big V" than her V probably isn't worth it.

I definitely pulled a similar streak last year. I had a few other things going on that were driving me to drink, and starting with spring break, where I easily drank 200 drinks over the 8 days, I think I drank every day until the day before this big presentation my entire Design class had to give. It was a big class project so I decided to not get drunk for it to help everybody else out. Got drunk afterwards, and then pretty much every day after that until graduation. Definitely go out on a high note, dude!

You gonna make it up for most of the Friday ngiht games again? We should hang out in Canton or around town after the games, always a good time.
