Well to me in order for us to have a "blockbuster trade" it would have to include Mora or Tejeda. So maybe we sign Mora to a Multi-year deal and then he is included in a big trade. We know Miggy isnt going anywhere. Only other pieces we would have would be pitching. Suppose it could be an Adam Dunn for pitching thing. Hell could be this could be that!

RZ the way I took the post was that we sign 2 players to multi-year contracts and then trade them. I know most teams perfer this so that they dont have to trade for the player and then try to lock him up. That was my take on it.

One word of caution about Wild Bill's predictions. He may have inside information on what the organization WANTS to do. That is not the same thing as what it will be ABLE to do. The free agents have other teams bidding for them, the trades can't happen unless the other teams like them, the long-term signings can't happen unless the players and their agents think it's in their best interests.
But I will at least take WB's predictions as an indication that the organization actually has the outline of a plan, and intends to push very hard to accomplish it, rather than taking the half-measures we have watched for three years.

Good point Frobby. If nothing else it seems we have an aggressive plan in place. We seem to be proactive as oppossed to reactive. Very refreshing.

I think that the signings and big trade could already be in the works. You are right about the FA no one is ever a lock ala Vlad but the other things may already be in the works just waiting for the deadline to pull the trigger.

Would we be able to resign BJ and then trade him? Who else besides Mora and perhaps Gibbons fits into this category?

Well to me Gibbons would have anything to do with a blockbuster. I could see a signing of Mora or BJ being possible to set up a trade. Most likely Mora would fit this mold the best. But who plays 3rd? LOL This just keeps going in circles.

Who is the one who said that Davey Johnson would be the manager next season?

I think we will sign Raffy and Sosa to multi-year deals and trade them to Colorado for Larry Bigbie....and then send Bigbie to the Cubs for Jerry Hairston.

10-21-2005 10:02 AM #42yeah, but what in the heck do you give up for a talent like that? Is he worth Gibbons, Cabrera, Ray, and Markakis?
