    Now that is a real offer, unlike that Astros crap. I would do that deal without Shields and would prefer a prospect that the Anels would give up (rather than a valuable piece for their playoff run). Unfortunately, we aren't getting Santana or Weaver, so it doesn't matter.

    That would be a hell of a package to get. I'd personally be very happy.

    Imagine a 07 opening day rotation of Santana, Bedard, Cabrera, Penn, and Loewen.

    Olson, Liz, and James Johnson waiting in AAA.

    Problem is, those guys are pretty established MLers now. You offer that two months ago and you might have something. But why would they trade three CURRENT ML contributors for ONE current ML contributor?

    Wood, Adenhart and Aybar.

    I hadn't heard before today that that offer was actually made and rejected. I know I've heard that proposal (and about a million others ) here on OH, but I don't recall hearing official confirmation of it until today.
