My latest most hated commercial is for some credit card company (Citibank maybe?). It has some guy with a bizarro-Germanesque accent going on and on about how fast he can rack up points, save money, whatever. He changes into his velour track suit, and asks his sidekick how he looks ("Fast."). Then crazy bizarro Germanesque guy hisses and growls like a cat, makes a clawing gesture with his hand, and says "Tiger fast."

WTF?!?! WTF does any of this have to do with a freaking credit card?!?

God I hate that John Mellencamp crap. I was about to get irate when I was reading this thread and didn't see it mentioned until a few posts ago.

I hate him, I hate the song, I hate the commercial and I now hate Chevy for exploting Rosa Parks, 9-11, Katrina and for thinking they are the ultra Americana company.

In the same vein as the Santa Clause commercials, I just watched a commercial on ABC Family(or Fox or whatever family it is now)(The Rookie is on) in which they call The Polar Express, the Tom Cruise-voiced creepy-thon CGI movie, a "holiday classic." Riiiight...

Wasn't that Tom Hanks in that one?

Not to argue - it's not a holiday classic in my mind either.

Not a problem. The greater issue is that everybody here hasn't had a new "most hated commercial" in like 3 or 4 days! The "ad wizards" are slipping!

The John Cougar Mellencamp commercial has been on approximately 40533038 times in the past 2 days and I think I want to kill myself. It was on EVERY SINGLE BREAK during the game tonight. It's not even the song that bothers me, it's this idea that they're taking credit (blame?) for things like jeans, cowboy hats, diners, Rosa Parks, the 1960s, Hurricane Katrina, small children, etc. Get over yourselves, Chevy. Your cars suck and they break down all the time. And your commercial made me say the following tonight: "Why does this come on so much? I'd rather watch political ads." And I mean it, too.

Not to mention that the commercial also makes me want to scream "XENOPHOBIA!" at the screen along with the tune.

At this point, I think Mellencamp deserves the blame for everything. Especially small children.

Fed Ex has a new one I loathe. They have these commericals "The World According to.." THe one I hate is "The World According to Kara." It's this woman with trendy glasses who works in an office and she spouts off lame business cliches that relate to her "success" that would not be without Fed Ex.
It's been a full day without that godawful Mellencamp Chevy commerical, of course I've had the TV off all day, but I thought somehow it'd still manage to sneak in...maybe over the telephone, singing telegram, a nightmare....but the day isn't over yet.

The Mellencamp ones are lame, although i find it funny when it has the anvil with the trailer hitch and the caption reads "This is our concept vehicle." At which point, I think to myself, "and you wonder why Toyota is selling more cars."

But the ads that drive me absolutely nuts are the Domino's Brooklyn Style Pizza. It makes me physically shudder.

I really dislike this new visa check card commercial I saw the other day for the first time.

It takes place in some restaurant, and it shows everything working like clockwork, everybody moving like a cog in a machine, whipping food and drinks around, serving customers instantly. Then some dude has cash and slows up the machine. The whole ad is predicated on the idea that Visa check card makes paying for things ridiculously fast. Maybe its just my own ideals, but that commercial makes me sick to my stomach. The last thing we need is for life to move faster and for everything to become more machine like.

But thank you Visa for doing your part in progressing our society to an increasingly warp-speed, impatient, stressful one.

F that restaurant, F visa, and F speeding things up.

I hate it simply because generally, the opposite is true. With the exception of fast food drive throughs, and Chipotle, everywhere I use my check card actually takes at least 15-30 seconds longer than a cash transaction would. I habitually hold up the line at the Towson York Road Royal Farms.

I can't stand the ones that involve the dude that's living in his car for a week.(I think it's a sentra?) It seems like they have one for every day and each day is a pain in the arse to watch!
