    Federer vs Tiger

    http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=2746501

Ok guys, who is more dominant IYO?

I think Federer is more dominant but Tiger is more impressive because the competition in his sport is much better than the competition in tennis.

Haven't we already had this conversation? Anyway, I'll go with Roger, and I don't think it's that close.

I think Roger is at least as impressive as well. I'm not sure that the competition in golf is better than in tennis. I think it's pretty hard to tell.

Not really....Men's tennis is terrible right now and most experts will tell you that.

However, many golf experts will tell you that this is the deepest men's golf has ever been.

Based on what? How do you know men's tennis is terrible? Can't Roger just be that much better than the type of competition that is normally found in men's tennis?

Probably bias based on a lack of Americans at the top of the rankings. Personally I don't think the field in men's tennis is any stronger/weaker than it has been in recent years.

I've heard it's down because Federer doesn't have much of a rival, thus it's not as entertaining, haven't heard that the level of competition is down.

They have been saying it for a few years now and really, Federer is getting a rival in Nadal.

Yeah, they've been saying it's down in terms of entertainment for a few years, not sure about what your talking about though, maybe I've just missed all this talk. Nadal hasn't been much of a rival except for on clay where he dominates.

With the entertainment comes the level of play and competition.

Women's tennis is flat out much better than Men's tennis right now and it really isn't close.

It's better because there's more personality, bigger names, better story lines, and multiple stars who are pretty even and can win at any time. That doesn't mean the level of play is stronger. If Serena was on top of her game and healthy throughout the last few years and dominating, you'd probably say the same thing about women's tennis that you're about mens tennis. Even though the level of play would be the same, but there'd be a perception that it's weak because Serena is so good.

    I don't agree with this.

There are a ton of talented woman's players out there.

It is like the NBA when Michael was playing...Just because he always won, doesn't mean there wasn;t talent. That is what the women's game would be like.

Serena is a genetic freak when it comes to women..LOL

The level of play and competition in the men's game is definitely down from where it was 10 years ago.

You had Lendl, Edberg, Sampras, Agassi, etc playing at high levels.

You just don't have that kind of talent anymore and really, it is not surprising. US athletes are going towards the sports that pay more and more people are involved in golf now than ever.

I think that is starting to happen all over the world as well.

As great as Tiger is(this recent run aside), he has still only won about 30% of the tourneys in his career. That is still him losing alot. Not sure what Federer's % is but my guess is higher than that.

But 30% of the time in golf is phenomenal.

First off, you have to go back further than 10 years to include Lendl and Edberg.

Serena is tremendous when healthy and on top of her game, and if she was those two things, she'd probably be the Federer of the women's game and we'd be hearing the same things about women's tennis as we're with men's tennis players imo.

I just don't see how you can be so sure that the rest of men's tennis is down instead of Federer just being the best player ever, or close to it, thus not having anyone who can consistently stand up to him.

I'll admit that it's possible that the level of play is down, just don't see any real evidence of that.

I think Federer is the best ever and i think the men's game is down.

I think it is down because practically ever expert i hear says that AND, from watching tennis alot over the years(majors, not anything else), i think the players were better 5-15 years ago than they are now.
