    Decision Maker's

Who makes the decision if a player should be promoted? For example Kraig Binick in Bluefield. Is Bluefield in charge of it or would Aberdeen have to request him? How does this work?

You usually don't see much movement if any in the three lower levels.

Binick will probably go to Aberdeen at the end of the year if he keeps it up.

Do you think there would be any harm, if they sent him up for the last 5-10 games just to get a feel for it. I mean he is tearing it up in Bluefield.

Excellent question and one I don't have a definitive answer to.

I always assumed that Dave Stockstill, our Director of Minor League Operations was in charge of promotions and would inform the front office (Flanagan/Duquette) of his choice to do the promotion and would then look to be given the okay by them to do so.

But I could be (and likely am) waaaaaaaay off.

I personally would love to have a more definitive explanation of the inner workings of our management team. For example, is Joe Jordan, our Director of Scouting, also in charge of our scouting at the major and minor league level? I know he is in charge of scouting amateurs in preparation for the draft, but perhaps he is in charge of it all?

My point is that I don't know, and a little help on this would be most informative.

That's what I meant. Bluefield finishes before Aberdeen if I'm not mistaken. He should play there this year if he keeps it up.

Thanks Greg65 this was very helpful. One more question, do you feel keeping a guy like Binick who was a standout in the summer Northwoods league and a standout in a small college and the Division one Independant League player of the year and putting the numbers up that he is in Bluefield, when does it come to a point where it hurts him. I read a lot about his age at 22 in rookie league is not good. Do you think he is learning anything new or do you think he should be sent where he can continue to develope and become better?

Bluefield is a small step up from the lowest rung and is often used for drafted players to get acclimated into our system. A 22 year old prospect with solid experience should have a fairly short stay at Bluefield as long as he performs well, as expected. So yes, Binick would be a guy I'd move to Delmarva and challenge him there.

stockstill decides who moves where.jordan is scouting director. stockstill is player development. another reason they do not move players is that most get a cash bonus for moving up and staying with ahigher level team for certain amount of days.
