Is Jiminez competent at 1st base?
I know he is a victim of the 1st base/DH log-jam at Norfolk (he really doesn't belong at Bowie) but how is his defense?

He's not bad scooping up throws from across the diamond but his horizontal range leaves something to be desired, to say the least. A good observation on the Baysox broadcast yesterday came from Steve Smith, saying that if Jimenez could just do what he could to use his large frame to knock down balls, he would be ok.
He's not the worst first baseman but he won't be winning any gold gloves... or silver gloves... or bronze gloves... or any fielding awards in general. Keep in mind, they call him Lil' Papi for a reason.
