Tom Davis and Dave Johnson must be Tejada haters
Just spent several minutes listening to them talk about how they would move Hernandez to SS and put Tejada at third and move Mora to Lf. They said that several of the front office guys were discussing that exact move right now. Davis said it was obvious to anyone who can see that Hernandez plays a great SS. They said Tejada wasnt dogging it but that he just had lost skills. Said McFail has stated over and over he will STRESS pitching and defence!
I wonder what the Sabermetrics crowd will do with all their charts? Sometimes you actually have to watch the game and make a judgement calls. Not everything can be broken down into mathematics.

Luis Hernandez is not a major league baseball player.
Moving Tejada is a fine suggestion, as long as you have someone capable to replace him. The Orioles currently do not. If they can find someone, fantastic, but right now, he's clearly the best option, and nobody else is even a bad option. Everybody else in the system is a TERRIBLE option at SS.

Moving him now weither we have a replacement or not is not stupid it will give him a chance to get used to the postition before next season. Him and Mora.

Yea...Leave it to me to make those 2 look stupid and tell the truth.
Anyone who thinks Hernandez should be an everyday SS in the major leagues is beyond clueless.
This has othing to do with Tejada...Talking Hernandez here.
Career MiL OPS of around 600.
He has to play Ozzie Smith level defense to justify his bat.
Do you think he can be the greatest defensive SS in the history of the game?

Seems to me that
Mora - Tejada - Hernandez is close to
Mora - Tejada - Payton or
Mora - Tejada - Redman or
Mora - Tejada - Gibbons
in offense, and way better in defense.
I also like the move because it puts the players "in their place" in terms of authority and who's calling the shots. It wouldn't make sense to move them just because of this ... but if the team offense is a wash and the defense improves, it's management's prerogative - and responsibility - to do it.

Besides, who is to say Tejada and Mora will be ok in new positons?
Mora hasn't played the OF in a while and is much older now.
Even if you can justify Hernandez compared to other garbage he would replace(OFers), you don't know that we would be better on defense because Tejada and Mora need to get acclamated to new positions.

Its not about Hernandez. Its about moving Tejada. Its not about winning now its about figuring out if Tejada even is in our plans for next year at 3rd or Lf.
If Hernandez could hit .250 up here he will be fine. What he is 23 we should find out what he can and can't do.

I don't know what's been discussed in the FO. However, many things can be discussed without it meaning much. For example, you could call the following exchange a discussion:
Some FO guy: "Hey, Andy, ya think we should move Mora to LF, Miggy to 3B, and let Luis play SS everyday?"
Andy: "Go away. I'm busy."

08-25-2007 01:26 PM #12Yes it is.Its not about HernandezTejada is very likely getting traded in the offseason. Its about moving Tejada. Its not about winning now its about figuring out if Tejada even is in our plans for next year at 3rd or Lf.250?? Who cares about BA?...Do you understand what OBP and OPS are? Do you understand their importance? If he hits 250 with a 280 OBP and a 300 slugging, he isn't doing us any good.If Hernandez could hit .250 up here he will be fineWe know what he can do...He can field at an above average rate and hit worse than a replacement player...There are hundreds of players like him in the world. What he is 23 we should find out what he can and can't do.

Tejada should not be in our plans at 3B or LF, ever. Trading him is a much better option than switching his positions.
We know what Hernandez can't do, its hit pitching. Not even major league pitching, he's worse than Paul Bako in the minor leagues. He'd be historically bad in the majors.

Why lower Miggy's value with an in-season move?---Makes no sense.

What is this obsession with a certain faction of O's fans to constantly defend Tejada?
His defense is atrocious and is becoming a liability.
His lack of power all of a sudden is highly questionable and costing this team.
His lack of leadership is disgusting.
And the fact that he still thinks he's a superstar, and the fans who agree, is verging on the delusional. I love how people don't want to get rid of him because his loss in the lineup will hurt us. HOW? He's hit 14 homeruns this season! He's come out and admitted he's not a power hitter even though MASN still runs those ridiculous commercials about his power. I guess those "B12" shots may have been a bit suspicious. This guy is a clown who's is just stealing massive amounts of money from this club. Would Luis Hernandez be a better option? YES! The kid, that's right he's only 23, knows how to play shortstop and OMG! catch the freaking ball. He actually hustles down the baseline. And he doesn't mope in the dugout. Its time to end this miserable Tejada experiment and rid this team of this cancer!
