    Random Stuff of the Day

Here's a nice Andy Rooney stream-of-senility rant about how he doesn't like baseball because of all the Rodriguezes and swimming is cool and football was fun in the 20s when Dimaggio struck out all the time and get off my lawn you darn kids!

Ivan Rodriguez (one of the reasons Rooney hates baseball!) has seven walks. This year. List of fewest walks by players who qualified for the batting title. There need to be more Ossee Schreckengosts in the majors.

I was kind of aimlessly looking at Orioles' history on bb-ref trying to find a similar team to this year's. One with good pitching, so-so offense, and a record just under .500. It's not a perfect fit, but the '58 O's sort of qualify. But the interesting thing about that team is how their pitching staff was run. Just take a minute and look at the W/L/SV totals for that team. Interesting, huh? Wonder how the 2007 O's would do if Erik Bedard and Jeremy Guthrie were #1 and #3 on the team in saves?

I noticed that Pudge stat when I was randomly looking at numbers. Amazing.

I remember Carlos Baerga having one of those years...and surprisingly looking at this list it seems Baerga still had an .858 OPS

I wonder what Carlos is doing now...He would be a Terry Crowley all star.
