Have we been screwed over by the umps more than the average team?

Seriously, are we just saps? Because it seems like there have been more than a "normal" number of blown calls against us. Is it just me?

But does it really matter at this point. Were a louzy team, no ump is going to give us a call. This team is so bad we couldnt win if we were paying off the umps to give us all the close calls.

Here is the latest. Palmer was pretty upset afterwards. It wasn't even close.

Seems like umps are giving the benefit to the teams that need to win.

Lousy team or not, we have definitely had more than our fair share of calls go against us. I should not matter that we are 25 games out of first and the Yankees are 2.5 out and leading the WC, if the guy is out then make the right call. If the guy is way off base when he catches the ball (Angels game last week), then don't call him out.

Slightly off topic here, but I actually wonder sometimes if some of the umpires even care if they blow a call. It's not like they have any type of evaluation system, with the exception of Questec for the strike zone only. At least NBA and NFL have systems in place to evaluate calls and have even admitted that officials have made bad calls. But in MLB, once these guys get a major league job they have it until they retire, no matter how many bad calls they make.

    That's what I've been thinking.

Isn't that only supposed to happen in the NBA?

Do you have where Brian threw his helmet down at Sunday's game? For some reason TiVo recorded a football game....I really want to see exactly what happened.

MLB needs the Yankees to make the playoffs or they will lose out on a gigantic payday.

OK, that and the fact that ARod's a lock for MVP explain that call, but what about the ones in Toronto last weekend... and the ones before that....

    Oh man.

The K zone shrinks back to normal against Ramon but all of the Sudden Moore is called out on 3 pitches that were nowhere NEAR the zone.

    Unreal.

I know. That was ridiculous. Low, Low, and Outside? Give me a break. Those weren't even in the same area code as the plate.

I was thinking the same thing. Everyone of those strikes was outside of the zone.

Well, you know...Bud Selig did send the umpires a memo commanding them to let the Yankees win.

...rumor has it that Miguel Tejada ordered Selig to do it.

The worse thing about it is how the MFY's hold their fists in the air after they get those BS calls like the deserve them somehow.
