But do you really see Marlo evolve. Yeah Levy tried to get him to, but Marlo wanted the thug life. He wanted the violence of the game. He wanted his name to ring out on the streets...like Omar. He wanted everyone to know that he was a badass and they should be scared of him.

Marlo didn't care whether he lived or died (or whether anyone lived or died). Nor did Chris and Snoop. All he cared about was that he got to wear the crown, and that people knew he was the one wearing the crown, and after he stopped wearing it, they remembered that he did wear the crown at one point. He's like Avon, but he doesn't have the depth that Stringer brings out in Avon.

Marlo was upset that no one told him that Omar was calling him out...He cared about his name being out there and the perception that he would do nothing about it.
Much more Avon than Stringer.

So I had told my friend a while ago to check out The Wire, and I guess she never got around to it. Recently, I got her to watch Luther on Netflix, and I guess someone else mentioned that Idris Elba was on The Wire so she asked. To borrow my DVD sets. So I went to make sure all the discs were in the case, and decided to just watch it again. So now she has to wait another week 'til I'm done with the first season.

Totally didn't plan on watching it again right now, but it just has a way of sucking you in.

So, I'm now on Season 5. I remember being somewhat disappointed when it originally aired, but upon watching it again, I'm finding it to be quite excellent. I still remember what I didn't like about it originally, and perhaps at the time those things stood out more for me than the good points, but on this viewing I'm seeing things in the opposite view.
