Since I was a kid, I've mailed out autograph requests to spring training.

Got the first one from 2008 back today. Prodigal Oriole Esteban Yan.

I go to college in Philadelphia but haven't gotten a chance to play Quizzo at one of the bars. But I'm home for spring break this week, and tonight I was eating in Jilly's on Rt. 40 with my family. We didn't realize it, but it was quiz night, and the host running it recruited us to form a team of 2-10 people. It was the last event of some sort of 10 quiz tournament, and there were six or so teams that came on a regular basis. My dad and I thought it would be fun, but we didn't think we had a serious chance to win with only two people. Well, in the end we got first place out of 12 teams and won $50! We got every single pop culture question wrong (two questions about the movie Dirty Dancing - wtf?!), including the sports ones (I got unlucky on the categories - NASCAR and soccer). The moral of the story? You can't outnerd a nerd.

It's 51 DEGREES today!!!! You have no idea how awesome this is for Minnesota after a winter of sub-zero temps. The snow is melting (mud and puddles everywhere, but who cares), the sun is out, I only need a light coat, and my window is open! SPRING!

Oh, and break starts tomorrow. Good-bye MN until April!

If you don't like Minnesota, why did you go to college there?

Fall and spring terms, it's great. Which, incidentally, was when I visited as a senior in high school.

Winter term? Not so much. You do get used to it (10 F can start to feel really pleasant), but that first day of spring-like weather is just incredible.

Get this: I called Student Financial Services yesterday with a complicated work-study payroll problem, the lady worked through it with me to figure out a solution, and I logged into my account today and IT'S FIXED! The form I needed help with didn't have the right info for my specific situation and so she told me to put it through with the wrong info and she'd alter it herself when it was in the system, so I did this mistrustfully, but she did it right! I was shocked enough yesterday when she spent all that time on the phone with me going through my file and taking time to clarify and understand the issue; seeing that it's been fixed exactly the way I wanted is amazing.

I'm not sure if it's pathetic that I am so thrilled that a bureaucrat actually did what they promised to do, but whatever.

My college has DUMPED SODEXHO! HAHAHAHAHA! They talked about it for years but I never thought they'd actually do it. Worst. Food. Ever. I've lost 10 pounds since starting college (not on purpose). We are getting Bon Appetit next year instead. The lousy food was one thing, but I think the incident with a manager physically assaulting an employee last year was the beginning of the end. Good riddance.

There's a place called "Sodexho"? That even sounds dirty.

Sodexho is the food service/catering end of Marriott. Or was, they may have spun it off. It also changed its name to Sodexo.

Our college had them as well. Some of their food is actually pretty good, some of it downright awful. Sounds like it was all awful at twoBshorty's school (which I think demonstrates that the school itself has something to do with the food...we had a few liason type people who enforced certain quality standards on the dining places and that seemed to help).
