I'm a week away from closing on my first house. That's pretty cool.

I know it has been said before, but MLB network is the best. The live show from 7 pm to after I am asleep is great. When the Orioles game goes to commercial, I go to MLB network. Live look-ins, good studio analysts and highlights from all the games. Baseball Tonight is no longer watched in my house.

There are parents out there who actually control their kids' behavior on a flight! I got stuck in front of a 3-year-old flying out to Dallas and he was mostly OK, but then started kicking my seat and banging the tray table about halfway through. I gave it a couple of minutes to see if he'd tire of it, then turned around and just made eye contact with the mom, and she stopped him immediately. It didn't happen again. No words or even a nasty look needed. Great stuff.

I love getting an unexpected 12.3% raise, even more so in a month where I get paid three times.

Many mornings when I wake my oldest son up, he says something totally random. Today it was "rabbits go round and round."

I know a lot of people here hate Red Sox-Yankees, but Jacoby Ellsbury's straight steal of home tonight was a giant pile of awesome. I'd never seen the play before and have really wanted to for the longest time. It was like nobody on TV had the slightest clue what was happening until he suddenly appeared in the frame. Great stuff.

He was two in March. Every day when I go to wake him, he just spouts out some random thing. He must be dreaming or something. I've actually thought about videotaping it, because it really is hilarious, but maybe I just think that because it's my kid. Either way, it's always a great way to start the day.

I have a job interview on Friday! I've been on unemployment since October (except for a 3-week seasonal job at Circuit City). It's a crappy dispatcher job at AAA, but anything is better than nothing, right?

If this falls through, I'm going to see about renting a trailer for landscaping, and get a couple unemployed friends together.

So round two of my thesis is due tomorrow and I'm way ahead of the schedule I laid out which has let me go back and add ridiculously condescending footnotes which makes me a very happy man!!

Tomorrow night I'm going to come home, at like 11, turn on the TV, open a beer and watch sports. I don't care what it is, it can be cricket or women's downhill skiing, I haven't seen a TV in three weeks and I'm going to enjoy it!!!

Having a lunch packed that's gonna be so good I'm counting the minutes until it's time to grub. Cold meatloaf sandwiches on white bread. Mmmmmmm...
