What do you guys think of Devard?

Interesting game for the former 3rd round pick. Seemed to give up on that first half pass that he could have had if he cut back inside the corner. But then he exploded in the second half with some nice deep passes, for 26, 42, and 27 (for a TD) yards. I'm wondering whether his play in the second half was an indication that he might be able to finally develop into a good, solid receiver and a deep threat, or whether it was just further exposure of Cleveland's weak secondary. Anyone think he can play a more prominent role in our offense from here on out?

I really liked what I saw, but I'll hold my opinion of him until I see him running routes against a better D.

Boller threw 2 beautiful passes to him....A lot to be said about DVD likely working a lot with Boller in practice because of the second team thing.

Darling might be the next Travis Taylor, as someone mentioned earlier, but those are the exact passes that made Taylor a first-round pick and our top receiver for as long as he was.

Keep making those throws, to him and Williams, and along with the middle-range passes to Clayton and Mason we might have a passing offense.

Darling looked pretty good and along with Williams and Clayton we have some solid young receivers who can get open. None are probably going to be future allpros but all three form a very good young core. I know a lot of people want to see that Chad Johnson or Randy Moss type here but it really is not a pressing need right now compared to our CB, DE or QB needs.

I really think it was more smoke and mirrors than anything. I could be wrong and I hope I'm wrong but I really dont see DVD repeating today. This is his 4th season and its the first time we've seen anything out of him. Trust me I would love it if he could establish himself - he would give us a 4th legit wideout and maybe our offense could become somewhat respectable, but I just don't see it happening.

81 looked better than he is today, IMO.

Let's see him do it again before we say anything else about him.
