About the Bedard deal
Was in arbitration hearings most of the day. Props to the HO staff for keeping the site running in high gear and to Peace for breaking the Tejada deal. Spoke with my guy today and this is what I was told.
First the deal seemed to fall apart for 3 specific reasons. First the Dodgers wanted to see if they would land Kuroda and save the prospects. The second reason was due to LA asking us to kick in about $18 million of Tejada's salary for a upper level pitcher to be included. We would not do this. The Dodger GM then wanted to switch Kemp with Either. We declined.
He said MacPhail pull off the Tejada deal in less than 3 hours this morning. I know I've ragged on him here but I personally feel this was a good return considering we've freed up $13 million a year for the next 2 years.
Now concerning Bedard. He told me the focus today was with the Mariners. Names he's hearing include Jones, Morrow, Butler and Sherrill. BEDARD WILL BE TRADED. Roberts may not be.
Let's see if Belkast of Peace have heard of anything.Last edited by bigbird; 12-12-2007 at 09:56 PM.

That is fun. We are ready to roll it seems. It looks like MacPhail is not waiting for anyone, we are setting the market this time!

Thanks yellow dude. Who's Butler? What about Balentien? If we get Sherril we'll have about 20 contenders for the bullpen. Jones and Morrow are great. Any word on the REDS?

Who's Adams? Do you mean Adam Jones? If he's not included, Bedard can't go to the Mariners.

Bigbird can you answer this question,
Even though we are in talks with the M's, have we scratched out any possible trade with the Reds?
Thanks in advance, I just wonder if we will get into a bidding war and come out on top either way.

I'd rather see the Reds before the Mariners, but it's all good. Mariners aren't a slouch, by any means.

Butler:

We need more positional talent than just Jones.
Too much focus on the bullpen with the M's.
Reds have a better package IMO.
