    A method for protecting insiders

I don't know if is this too early, but I figured while it was on everyone mind. I also don't know if this is the domain of the administrators either, as you are in the changing internet becoming your own news source, but I thought I would post it anyway.

There are a lot of really bright people on this board, and I think while it is in everyones mind that the OH should come up with some way to protect insiders. So I submit this thread in the hope that if offers some interesting ideas. I think there needs to be a better way to protect insiders.

My Idea "FWIW": I believe to protect the remaining insiders that a system of buffers should be set up. Whereby an insider, whoever that be come on the OH and private message a select group of trust worth people who hear the inside information first. That person would then be told they are number 1. That person whould then send that message to another person in the group and they would be told they are number 2. They would pass it to a 3rd person who would then post it.

The problem is that there needs to be a defined group and they need to be online. I would propose the defined group as being OH administrators and Grand Hangout Council Members. Trustworthy people who could be counted on for accurate information.

The insiders would not recieve the credit anymore because they would not be posting, however they would also be buffered from the criticism of others who say they are not accurate. They would be protected from what unfortunately happened today.

This is my idea. I hope it helps.

I don't know if they would go for this but, what if the insiders made an account called "insiders" or whatever. They would each know the password to that account and could post whatever they want without us knowing which one of them it was. They would all have to post in generic language though so we wouldn't know which one it is.

Those are some interesting ideas, but it takes all of the fun out of it for the actual insiders. I'm sure they enjoy the credit, recognition, and rep that they receive.

I think that is a valid point. I think it is a question for the insiders, whether they value the rep, credit, response more than the protection. I think that the last post may provide a type of relief to this problem. I also think it you could find other ways around that problem.

Personally, I'm waiting for the "McLovin is a mole!" theories to start ;-)

True. There are some obvious flaws to what I suggested. I just figured that I'd throw it out there.

Though there are the people that complain about free, inside information, I think that the insiders know how much most of us appreciate the info that they bring.
