Terps vs. Duke
A brief break from the depressing talk about the men...
Terp women looking for their first win vs. Duke in College Park since 1998. So far so good, up 9 about midway through the first half.
Harper is cleaning up inside and the defense has been solid for the most part. Man this team is fun to watch.

Also of note is the Duke assistant coach's sweater, which he purchased when the props from the set of The Cosby Show were auctioned off.

At the half, 43-32 Terps. Marissa Coleman with 17 points, she really heated up late. I know most people wouldn't want to watch women's games and I was definitely like that myself a few years ago...but if you are a Maryland fan and don't watch this team you're only cheating yourself. So much fun to watch, and really doing this University proud. I really can't imagine any team this year that Maryland can't beat.

Duke keeps getting close, and the Terps just keep pulling themselves away. Marissa can really do it all. Duke is doing a good job of taking Lang away inside and Coleman/Toliver are getting it done. Terps up 8 now after being tied a minute or so ago...76-68.

Terps win, 85-70. Marissa Coleman with 30 points

Seriously, this is a special team. Having been with them after they lost to Ole Miss last year I can say with confidence that they aren't going to have a game like that in the tournament again this year. You all know I love the men's team as much as anyone but if they can't turn this season around, I hope everyone who cares about Maryland athletics enjoys watching the women's team. 20-1...first team in America to 20 wins, men or women, and about half of those wins were against highly-ranked teams.

Interesting concept-recruit and sign Parade/McDonalds All Americans- win a national championship and get a perennial top 5 team..........shame it can't be applied to the men's program (as we have been so often told)

women vs men
Looked as if the women could give the guys some lessons in shooting & hustle. GREAT game to watch, especially beating Duke.

I dunno, I think there is a much larger competitive disparity in the men's game than in the women's game. I'm a beat writer for Penn women's basketball, and they aren't even playing the same game as Maryland; they would lose by at least 70-80 points.
I also think a top women's recruit almost never is a bust, whereas that is not true in the men's game. I see what you are saying, but I think it is much easier to build a dynasty in the women's game.
