Zorn New Skins' O-Coordinator
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3214785
Danny's taking cues from Jerry, it seems. I don't have a huge problem with this. Apparently Williams and Fassel both like Zorn a lot so either one would be fine with him, and I guess this had to be done now to keep Zorn from re-signing with Seattle to be their future O-Coordinator when Holmgren leaves. I don't get why we're waiting on the HC since neither McDaniels or Spagnuolo(sp?) are going to come here so it'd be much better to just give one of those two the job and then fill out the rest of the staff. I still vote go continuity with Gregg.
Zorn has helped develop Hasselback into one of the best in the game and should be good for Jason Campbell. His development is really of the most crucial importance to the Skins. Zorn's a very innovative thinker and has many unique methods for coaching QB's so I like the experience he brings for Jason. I'm just not sure about making him develop his own whole playbook now and us now taking Al's offense, which Jason has spent the last two years learning, away from him. Saunders, by the way, has been told to seek work elsewhere.

Also, I'll just make this the Skins news thread for any that care. Gregg Williams is apparently out of the running for HC:

What a joke. I bet the "philosophical difference" was that Gregg was frank and told them they needed a GM and he couldn't deal with Vinny. Now I guess it's down to Fassel, Meeks, and maybe the two coveted Super Bowl assistants. Pray for Cowher, at this point. Wouldn't be surprised to see Danny make Cowher the first $10 million coach.
All signs point to Fassel right now though. They'll be without a defensive coordinator atm though.

Is there now any question that the state of Maryland should declare eminent domain on the Redskins, and seize them from Dan Snyder? The only thing left for him to do is tattoo "I'm a moron" on his forehead, and "but I'm richer than you'll ever be" on his ass, and run through the streets of Washington naked.
The man makes Peter Angelos look like a baseball genius.Last edited by Mad Mark; 01-26-2008 at 10:01 AM. Reason: close quote

So, Snyder preached continuity. And, boy did he ever follow through! Out goes the offensive coordinator. In comes a new one with a COMPLETELY different system. You can expect a pass-heavy west coast offense from him. Now, I can't say I was all that thrilled with Saunders in his 4 years. But, don't preach continuity and then do this. Snyder grows more and more repulsive with each passing year. I don't know who I want as coach. And, I can't say I blame him for not loving Gregg Williams and Saunders. It's just that these situations are handled so incredibly poorly. Hopefully he finds the "right" guy. It seems tough to find that guy when you already have an o-coord in place. I'd guess that the best you can do is find a stop gap, washed up coach no one else wants like Wade Phillips. Way to go Danny Boy...

According to Comcast Sports Net, Saunders and Williams have been released by the Skins. Blache has been named the D-Coord. And, a head coach will not be named until after the SB. You have to love the completely backwards process.

Wow. Why do the Skins continue to make boneheaded moves. I mean all I have heard from the players and coaches has been "We want Williams". And he gets dismissed for consideration. Not only that, but he is out of a job with the Skins.
Is this Vinnie's doing? I mean he has to be hated for his decisions more than Angelos.

Not too happy with what they're doing, but I don't think it's nearly as bad some are making it out to be.

Maybe because you weren't paying attention. Every single interview had a player openly talking about how they want G. Williams as the HC. Hell, even Gary Clark stated that it was a must to have Williams as the head coach.
Nothing close to that was coming from the Ravens side.
Not to mention, we can still retain him and it has been mentioned, several times, that he wants to be a Raven and the Ravens want to have him.
Seems a bit different to me.

Dan Snyder is a moron...no, sorry...Dan Snyder would have to get smarter to be a moron. No wonder Joe Gibbs looks like a giant boil has been removed from his ass!
