Most newspapers don't allow reporters to write stories based on unnamed sources. There's a reason for that: CREDIBILITY. This Bedard scenario has a lot of possible explanations, many of which haven't been discussed. So as much as I would like to see the O's make a great move, I guess I---and the rest of us---will have to wait.
    I agree.

However, the fact is that the deal isn't done yet and journalists like Rosenthal are saying it's on hold and possibly off.

If the team wants to appease it's fanbase with an explanation after 10 years of losing, I and others would welcome it. They don't have to, but in lieu of one people are going to wonder why this rebuild has not begun.

Jones was not in the starting lineup tonight for Lara Cardenales. Maybe the deal hasn't been completely nixed. I know it's reaching a bit, but if he's in Venezuela and still not playing maybe there's a chance the deal will still go through.

Does PA know what a message board is?

    re

no offense mr newspaper guy but reporters post stories on 'sources' all the time. They preface it by saying O's Sources tell us....blah. They do not say - Ted Johnson in the O's organization told me today that.....blah. Ted would soon find himself fired or at the very least - kept outta the loop from now on as most GMs like to keep things quiet. Peace has every right to keep his source quiet and he's smart to do so if he wants information to continuously come his way.

Yeah, but I'm just saying, Bavasi and AM could agree on a deal. Then, Bavasi calls Jones right away as it is essential that he pulls him out so he doesn't get hurt. Meanwhile, AM leaves a voicemail for Angelos. Jones leaks the information and Angelos hear's the news before he checks the voicemail. He gets pissed and pulls the deal. I'm just saying that might not be out of the question and that could be why his opinion changed from morning to night.

I've seen this brought up several times.

Can you explain why someone would kill a deal simply because it was leaked ahead of time? I mean, if the leak caused theterms to change, then it would really be the change in terms that killed the deal.

I can't think of a reason. why the leak alone would kill it. Can you?

    This is encouraging.

I don't think the deal is totally dead right now.

Oh, I'm with you as a beaten man. I just don't even see myself even really sitting back and watching the baseball that much. It'll be like a season long Orioles August/September.

This is one of my pet peeves, and always will be. Anybody who's on this board, and is overreacting to every little possible tidbit of information is a "true fan". Anybody here after a decade of losing, is a "true fan". Anybody who know who Jones, Clement, Bruce, Tillman, Pie, Gallagher and can name a dozen current Orioles prospects is a "true fan". The I'm a better fan than you rhetoric gets old.

Just seems to me that the more that this sort of thing happens, the more the Orioles regress rather than improve, the less true fans there will be. Your dedication is admirable. That said, to you all on the fandom high ground? If you're the last ones leaving - hit the lights on your way out.

So yeah, I'm still waiting to see how this all ultimately plays out. Despite my ranting on the "true fan" issue (which comes up every so often), and despite how irritated I'll be if Angelos turns out to have overruled his baseball men again, I'm actually pretty numb to it all. We'll see sooner or later.

Jones as a part of this deal has only been talked about for 2 months. Why would PGA get pissed about that?

it's simple - you have to be dealing with someone who's not quite in the right frame of mind. find someone a little off and you can expect the unexpected
