"I'd take them over any other group in baseball..."

Assuming the Bedard trade goes through (which I still have my reservations about), Roch had a snippet today from his blog which got me excited:

The scout also marveled at the arms that the Orioles could stockpile at Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie this year. Check out this list:

    Butler

    Chris Tillman

    Brandon Erbe

    Chorye Spoone

    Pedro Beato

    Bradley Bergesen

    Jason Berken

    David Hernandez

    Tim Bascom

    Jacob Arrieta

    Jake Renshaw

"I'd probably take them over any other group in baseball," the scout said. "That's unbelievable."

Glad to hear an outside opinion that jibes with what I've felt was true. Add Gallagher and Veal to that mix and it's utterly ridiculous.

Now if only we had the hitters to match....

I also liked what he said about the Cameron comparisons for Jones: "He needs to be compared to Andruw Jones".

    Norfolk:

    Garrett Olson
    Radhames Liz
    Troy Patton
    Hayden Penn
    Sean Gallagher
    Donnie Veal

We might just have some of the best pitching in the minors.

But one or two of those arms should be in the majors, depending on whether or not we bring a vet in.

We'll probably be dealing some of this depth for said hitters, I'm guessing in the next offseason to gear up for a long 5-6+ year run starting in 2009.

It's good to have this many eggs. We've never had them before!

Adding Tillman and Butler to Frederick takes us from okay to outstanding, imo.

Don't forget Veal to AA if that Roberts deal Bigbird mentioned has any legs.

    Jake Renshaw??

How did we get Jake Renshaw? MiLB.com shows him as being in the Cubs system having pitched for the Single A Peoria Chiefs. Same guy? Different guy?

Did we get him in the Trachsel trade? I thought we only got Moore and Cherry. Was there another deal I missed?
